Chance Mclaren Photography Commercial and Fine Art Photographer in the Pacific Northwest. Avid Explorer and keeper of time. People always ask me how I got into photography.

When I was younger I remember there always being someone around with a camera. Then the digital age started and in the fifth grade for science class I brought in printouts of macro subjects so the class could guess what they were. I used my older brothers HP camera that had a whopping 5 megapixels! In 2005 My dad got a job in Alaska and we drove the Alaska Highway which was quite an adventure. Fro

m there my passion grew! Alaska is a beautiful state and what better way to enjoys God's artistry then through photography. For me it's not just a matter of snapping a photo but finding myself and my purpose. I hope to share my view of the world in which we live and I hope you enjoy my photographs! I am currently attending the Art Institute of Seattle to obtain my Bachelor's of Fine Art. Then we'll see where that takes me! Thanks for visiting!

Digging into the Archives. 9:23 P.M. Sunset in Delta Junction, Alaska at the Clearwater River. This was one of my favorite places to walk down to in High School. We lived just up the road from the campground.

I find myself photographing a lot of things symmetrically. But thats not hard when thats what Nature gives you. Symmetry is everywhere.

Whenever I shoot landscapes I bracket exposures to retain detail. Sometimes it feels more impactful when you don’t see everything but rather play with the natural contrast of highlights and shadows. Taken at Rialto beach when out shooting a few summers ago.

Happy Friyay! Gonna keep the sunset train going. There’s so many cool things with sunsets as the light moves and fades and rakes across the landscape. As the light fades it provides many unique opportunities as a photographer.

When's the last time you stopped to just enjoy a sunset and look at it with no phone? Drop a like if you had to think about it.

One of my favorite things about Summer! Sunsets. This was created by using a long exposure and moving the camera while the shutter was open. I like to think of it as camera painting. Did I just create a new sport?

Happy Tuesday! To see the endless stars and the lights dancing with such magnitude one can really feel small. We all are but a blip in this universe trying to make an impact on the evasive thing called time. A battle none of us can win. We can just try to slow it down long enough to enjoy it.

Today's prompt for my post was "Artwork of the Week". I'm gonna veer away from that a little and get personal. Wanted to share a story. Sterling, our family dog recently passed. Now he's resting easy. This dog was an adventure buddy. I would gear to take pictures and all I had to do was grab that camera and he would start barking and jumping excited to go outside and go on an adventure. During my time in high school we lived at a house that offered a couple cool walks through the forest. One of which ran by a cool old dump site with the old coke a cola cans. Even on nights where the Auroras were out everyone would go to sleep for the night. We had a horse pasture that made it easy to go outside while staying close to the house at night, so mom and dad didn't have to "worry" about me going out. I'd get up and Sterling would follow. Out into the night and the snow we would go. He never wondered far, was always close, and made it that much more enjoyable. He was a great dog. A friend. Rest easy buddy. You lived a good life.
