Heritage Village at Big Creek

Heritage Village at Big Creek Experience life in rural Door County at the end of the 19th century.

Created by the Door County Historical Society, Heritage Village invites families, students, and visitors to explore historic buildings, traditions, and everyday pioneer life. The Door County Historical Society is an organization of more than 350 people dedicated to keeping history alive for future generations through the collection, preservation and sharing of the heritage of Door County. The soci

ety meets monthly from April until November in different places throughout the county. The monthly meeting, held the fourth Monday of the month, consists of a dinner, a short business meeting and a program relating to local history. A Board of Directors and Committees, comprised of society members, oversee the finances and projects of the society which include maintaining and operating the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse Museum, Heritage Village at Big Creek, the Hanson House, and the Door County Archives. The society also publishes The Peninsula, designates historical sites throughout the county, and provides educational programs for schools and groups.

Greetings! It was another milestone day at Eagle Bluff Light Station. Literally ground breaking in a sense that the new well was being drilled! The Door County Historical Society is funding the cost of the well drilling and pump installation. There were DNR public water supply specialists here to observe the drilling. They said the well will be cased to 100 feet and a total of 300 feet deep....
