We would like to personally thank the Union Grove Lions Club for this generous donation to Oak Clearing Farm and Museum.

The Optelec ClearView will be housed in the museum library and archives, where it will absolutely be put to good use.

This machine helps people with low vision read more easily. It can make printed text much larger on a big touchscreen and it can also read documents out loud.

Books, letters, photographs, postcards, and paperwork can be viewed clearly, listened to, or both.

Users can adjust the voice, reading speed, and screen colors to what feels most comfortable for them.

We are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful and meaningful gift that makes our collection more accessible to everyone.

There are still some signed copies of my latest local Racine history book at the Artist Gallery Downtown. This is a very limited edition and a third of them have already been sold. If you're interested get your copy before they're all gone. The book is loaded with hundreds of photos of Racine from the early 1900s.

Oak Clearings Farm and Museum at the Racine County Fair is featuring Nursing Through the Years.

The display includes historical photos, a slideshow video, and authentic nursing uniforms from different eras.

Racine historian Gerald Karwowski, proprietor of Oak Clearings, will be at the Racine County Fair for the entire event. He’ll be available to answer historical questions, share stories about local history, and showcase his newest book, which is available to review and purchase.

A lot of time and care goes into creating these displays. Be sure to stop by the Mercantile to see this nostalgic look back at local history and explore all of the memory lane exhibits!

A heartfelt thank you to the lovely lady who brought us tulip and iris bulbs as a gift for the farm today. We’re currently working on a large garden by the house, and these will be perfect in that space. Donations like this are always appreciated. Thank you for thinking of us.
