Go Fish Education Center The Go Fish Education Center is part of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (Fisheries Management Section).

Developed as part of the Go Fish Georgia Initiative, this center is core to promoting and increasing participation of fishing in Georgia. The Go Fish Education Center takes visitors on an educational journey through Georgia’s watersheds to learn about our diverse aquatic wildlife, their natural habitats and the impacts of water pollution. Beyond that, the Center serves as a great resource of fishing information for any level of angler – where to go, what to use and when.

On Saturday, April 18th, 2026, the Go Fish Education Center’s South Gate Entrance from South Perry Parkway will be closed due to a 4H s***t shooting event that will take place in the field directly in front of the center. The Go Fish Education Center will be open to visitors and can be accessed via the Ag Center’s East Gate Entrance off of Larry Walker Drive (across from the Public Safety Office/DDS). This will only be a temporary rerouting of traffic for that day only.

The City of Perry Government's Annual Kids Fishing Rodeo will be this Saturday, April 18th at 9 am at Rozar Park in Perry. This is a great opportunity to introduce kids to fishing and make memories outdoors. Afterwards, you can hop over to the Earth Day Family Celebration nearby, hosted by UGA Extension, Houston County.

Happening during Houston County Schools’ Spring Break, this FREE program is hosted by Wildlife Resources Division - Georgia DNR. It’s a great opportunity to learn fishing basics, improve your skills, and enjoy time outdoors. Only 10 spots are available and registration is required.

We have a new Georgia state record! Congratulations to Silas Turner of Hawkinsville, GA for landing a 31-pound, 14-ounce longnose gar at Lake Blackshear last week. This impressive catch beats the previous longnose gar record by 12 ounces.
