It was a great week for history and hands-on learning! Day 1- We made butter and bread dough, learned the story of “Three Sisters” and then planted our on garden! (“Three Sisters” is a Native American, including the Wyandottes) about growing food staples. The Campers ate a big cold version of the trio of veggies. Day 2 was digging for rocks, seashells, fossils and then used magnifying glasses and brushes to clean the items. They then used pages of pictures of rocks to identify before making “fossils” in play dough! On day 3- they learned about traveling in a wagon, ate dried beef and apples and then made our own plank roads! Campers learned how to use compasses and then had a Scavenger Hunt to find artifacts displayed throughout the museum. Each day we learned about historic games and then campers suggested current games they loved playing! Many thanks to Museum Curator Amy Cox, and our summer intern- Reilly! Huge thanks to Wyandot County Historical and Archeological Society for hosting!
