Patricia Williams explores the concept that creative ideas are catching. Thus, a secular love song from 1600, or thereabouts, finds its way via a Christian passion hymn scored by Bach in 1656 and a protest song by Tom Glazer in 1947 to Paul Simonโs โBridge Over Troubled Waterโ in 1970 and โAmerican Tuneโ in 1973.
Williams further transforms the music into visual art. Some paintings in this series interpret the notes of the musical score as shape and color, while others express the musicโs emotional and intellectual content.
