Cyndi Lauper became famous in late 1983 and early 1984 with the release of her debut solo album, She's So Unusual, which featured the hit single "Girls Just Want to Have Fun". The album's success, the accompanying music video, and her unique persona quickly established her as a pop icon. One of my favorite songs “Time after Time “ Cyndi personified the 80’s teenage life with funky hair and eclectic sense of fashion! She was and still is Bold and Beautiful !!! I had to Paint Cyndi Lauper !!! What’s your favorite Cyndi Lauper Song ?

“What’s Going On” was Marvin Gaye’s eleventh studio album released in May of 1971 by Motown Records. It was Gaye’s first album to credit him as a producer and to credit Motowns in-house session musicians known as The Funk Brothers. “What’s Going On” stayed on the Billboard Top LP’s for over a year. The title track hit number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and held top position on Billboards Soul charts for five weeks running. Rolling Stone listed “What’s Going On” as the greatest album of all time. Marvin was credited with promoting awareness of social economic issues before public outcry had become prominent!“Mercy Mercy Me” Sad to say as much as some things change some things stay the same 😔What an amazingly soulful voice. He’s my favorite soul singer and that is why I had to paint him… Gone way too soon. Fun fact - This was the very first pop-art portrait painting I did !!!

Madonna’s “Lucky Star” was released in August 1983 as a Double-A-side with “Holiday” on Warner Bros records, and later as a stand alone single. This song is so full of energy and super catchy, it just makes you want to DANCE 💃🏼!! I remember hearing this on the radio and dancing all around the kitchen. The single reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 becoming Madonna’s FIRST top-five HIT. For those of us that were in our teens during this time we all wanted to look like Madonna, dress like Madonna!! I remember talking my mother of pearl rosary beads (giving to me by my catholic grandmother) and wearing them like a necklace. I’m sure she would’ve been mortified lol !! Those were the days !!! That was an amazing ERA!!!
