The Warrant Review held this past Monday provided a great preview of what to expect at the 2026 Special Town Meeting next Wednesday, October 28th .

Hingham Advisory Committee Chair Keven Freytag spoke about the 3 HPS infrastructure articles & answered questions in the Seasons Catering Room at Linden Pond's Derby Clubhouse. The event was co-hosted by the LWV of Hingham, the Linden Ponds Political Interest Committee & Harbor Media.

Approval of the two Elementary School articles requires a two-thirds (2/3) vote by Special Town Meeting AND an affirmative majority vote at the November 3, 2026 election (there is a separate purple ballot for the 2 Town Ballot Questions).

On SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2026, communities across the country are joining NO KINGS: VOTE EARLY. The League of Women Voters is taking part in this non-partisan day of action because protecting democracy is at the core of who we are.

This day is about: Helping voters make a plan; Voting early where possible; Connecting with election protection efforts.

Ballots are already in Massachusetts' mailboxes; In-Person Early Voting also starts at residents' Town Halls on Saturday 10/17th (Hingham 10am-4pm, Cohasset 8am-2pm, Hull 8am-2pm. See Comments for more details). Check your ballot status and options at VOTE411.org.

Make your plan, return your ballot, and bring a friend or neighbor along. Smaller, hyper-local actions are encouraged this time, so a park gathering, a walk to drop off ballots, or a group of friends making voting plans together all count. You can still show up at a larger community event too, like the rally in Hingham at the Bathing Beach/Gazebo 10:30-noon. Find more events near you at nokings.org.

Why does the League support this? For more than a century, we have worked to protect voting rights, expand access to the ballot, and defend the democratic process. Standing up for fair, secure, and accessible elections is how we put those principles into action.

"[Yesterday 9/14/26], the Supreme Court refused to allow the federal government to throw our elections into chaos just weeks before Election Day. The Postal Service exists to deliver Americans' mail - not to rewrite election rules, demand voters' personal information, or decide which ballots make it through the system.

This was an extraordinary attempt to interfere with voting in all 50 states, and voters should never have been put in this position."
