ZAAP - Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project

ZAAP - Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project ZAAP is a non-profit Art Gallery in beautiful Downtown Zanesville! Our History
ZAAP was organized in 1994 in response to a revitalization effort in Zanesville.

Former Mayor Marilyn Swope’s attendance at the Mayor’s Institute on City Design; Midwest, help in St. Louis in 1993, initiated interest in investigating ways in which artistic projects might stimulate the area. In 1994, the decision was made to incorporate as an organization designed for the support of regional arts and the involvement of the community. Meetings
ZAAP Meetings for members and prosp

ective members are on the 4th Thursday each month at 6 pm at the gallery. In November, the meeting is on the 3rd Thursday and in December, a holiday party will be scheduled. Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project (ZAAP) is to unite artists and crafts persons and connect them to the community. ZAAP is a not-for-profit organization of artists and art advocates interested in cultivating and supporting the artists and the arts of Southeastern Ohio by offering the opportunity to meet, network, exhibit, and participate in the aesthetic development of their neighborhoods.

You may have heard about Jim Boyd and his new book outlining the history of the Zanesville Jaycees Golf Course “Birth, Death, and Resurrection of a Golf Course”

One of the things we’re particularly excited about in this book is the involvement of the art community! Jim invited many of our local artists to redesign historic photos included throughout its pages.

There is an upcoming event at the Ohio University Zanesville library on Tuesday, June 2nd 5-7 PM to unveil the artwork and mingle with many of the artists, as well as Jim, who made this book happen!

Shout out to photographer Chad Kettlewell Photography for ensuring so many of these artists had crisp, clean photos to send in for the book. If you’re looking to have prints made Chad’s your guy!
