We are proud to support the successful roll-out of pandanus planting materials across Sanma Province this week ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฟ.

This initiative is being delivered through the Sanma Skills Centre, under the Ministry of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Department of Forestry โ€“ Sanma, the Vanuatu Agriculture Research and Technical Centre (VARTC), and the Vanuatu Community-Based Climate Resilience Project (VCCRP).
๐Ÿค
The replanting of pandanus is an important step in strengthening Vanuatuโ€™s response to climate impacts ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒŠ. It supports the restoration of resilient plant species that play a vital role in coastal protection and sustainable livelihoods for communities ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ๏ธ.

Pandanus also remains central to traditional weaving, providing essential raw materials for mats, baskets and hats ๐Ÿ‘’, unique handmade woven products in Sanma ๐Ÿงบ. These products not only preserve cultural knowledge and practices but also contribute to income generation ๐Ÿ’ผ and strengthen community resilience ๐Ÿ’ช.
