The Centre for Fine Arts aims to be a European cultural centre, anchored in the 21st century, with a novel and innovative view of society, a laboratory of ideas attuned to society’s current and future challenges. In the coming decade, Bozar aims to embody change, and contribute to seven major and evolving societal challenges. Sitting atop Coudenberg Hill, monumental and yet discreet, the Brussels

Centre for Fine Arts is Belgium’s major cultural venue. In 1913, Queen Elisabeth and King Albert I expressed their desire to build “a temple devoted to Music and the Arts”. Designed by renowned Belgian architect Victor Horta (1861-1947), construction began after the First World War. Upon returning from his stay in the United States, Horta abandoned his flamboyant, industrial Art Nouveau style for the more monumental and geometric language of Art Deco. Inaugurated in 1928, the Centre for Fine Arts is a testimony to this aesthetic revolution. For nearly a century, the centre has hosted the art world’s crème de la crème, and it is where most of Bozar’s cultural and artistic activities are held. FR

Music Season '26-'27 tickets are now in sale 🌞

This season, we confront the past in concerts that face the future with their heads held high. We rediscover composers and musicians, placing their ideals in a new light. Because the need to come together again - to reassemble - is great at this time.

Our response is many-voiced, encouraging and innovative.

It is with great sadness that we have heard of the passing of the legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins. Rollins was, as well as a giant on his instrument, one of those greats who has undeniably influenced the genre since the 1950s. Alongside John Coltrane, he became the point of reference for the tenor saxophone. He was also a constant innovator and a committed activist, both politically (Freedom Suite, 1958) and socially (Global Warming, 1998). Rollins had a special connection with Bozar, where he performed on several occasions, most recently in 2004 and 2007. His passing is a great loss to jazz and the music industry in general. We extend our condolences to his family, friends and all jazz lovers.

What makes this cello, and its Catalan player, legendary?

Pablo Casals revived Bach, defied dictatorships, and turned the cello into a voice of resistance. Read all about the Goffriller ‘Casals’ cello from 1733 - the instrument the winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2026 will bring home - on our blog.

Would you like to see Casals’ historic cello in the flesh? The Pau Casals Foundation is exhibiting the instrument at Bozar today and from 25 to 30 May. You’ll find it, safely behind glass, in front of The 23.

And next time someone says classical music is “boring”… send them this article.

The Queen Elisabeth Competition is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the world-famous cellist Pablo Casals.

One last night below the surface.

Soon, it will be a wrap on another season of Bassment, the boundary-pushing electronic and experimental music series at Bozar. Over the past months, international and local artists shook the foundations of Bozar with live performances, immersive visuals and nights built for discovery, intensity and connection.

From raw club energy to audiovisual experiments, each edition transformed the recently refurbished Terarken Hall into a space where sound and image collide. And now, one final descent before the season closes.

On May 22nd, offcircuit will deliver an uncompromising live performance driven by industrial textures and cutting vocals. Then, Jokkoo Collective will explore diasporic narratives through an immersive audiovisual performance combining analogue and digital mediums.

Let’s meet in the Bassment ⚡
