Diogo Machado, professionally known as Add Fuel, is a Portuguese visual artist born in 1980 in Cascais, Portugal. He graduated in Graphic Design from Lisbon's IADE – Creative University and initially worked in design studios. Since 2007, he has dedicated himself exclusively to his artistic pursuits.
Add Fuel is renowned for reinterpreting traditional Portuguese azulejo tile designs, blending classical decorative elements with contemporary visual language. This approach results in multi-layered compositions that challenge viewers' perceptions and invite them to explore the fusion of tradition and modernity.
In "ITER ," Add Fuel employs his characteristic layering of patterns and motifs, inviting viewers to delve into the intricate details and discover the interplay between traditional tile designs and contemporary artistic expression. The title "ITER," meaning "journey" in Latin, suggests a voyage through visual narratives, reflecting the artist's exploration of cultural heritage and modernity.
