French Artist Corine & Photographer Georges Saillard along with 2 others are working on a project together in Calais – France where the conditions of the refugees coming in has greatly impacted them & their art. To see and experience the situation of the migrants has left them feeling helpless with a strong need to spread awareness and a desire to bring a little joy into the lives of the migrants
even if it be temporarily. Through visual art, colour & photography of 4 international talented artists, experience artworks overflowing with meaning beyond the boundaries of art & humanity. Maysa Mohamad –The Syrian born artist, Maysa studied fine Arts at the University of Syria, in 1984. A multi-faceted, vibrant personality, who has several television productions to her credit, started exhibiting her art works only recently. Her canvases narrate her own serious message that she wants heard seen and felt through the pain and suffering visible in the expressions on her series of faces in her collection titled Sada. Without any need for - iranlanguage the faces speak a thousand words. The meaning of Sada is (echo, reverberation, repercussion)
A message from the artist reads- “I did not draw Sada, but I felt all the death that occurred in my country. My paintings are the echoes, or 'Sadas', of what happened to me spiritually. I hope that this leaves an echo for every viewer, so that we never forget what happened. As for my choice of subject, it wasn't predetermined. This isn't a choice. I tried to reach out to those who aren't guilty; I drew their vast, pained gazes. ….gazes that reveal everything about them. “
Shahriar Zand –Born in 1971
Shahriar has a Bachelor’s degree of art in (Graphic design and printing Media) a Master’s degree of art in ( Animation and Character design ) and Diploma in Drawing and hand print techniques and a diploma in prepress and print. Nostalgia is the title of his new series of paintings. In Acrylics and Collage he creates artworks inspired by old photographs and life during the Qajar Dynasty. He feels a need to protect and portray the traditions of olden times in his country that he feels is fading and dying out due to modern ways, being lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life. From Ancient Iran society in Iran has always given sportsmen a special status and respect. People always welcomed, admired & praised them and so did Zand. He concentrates his collection on the wrestlers along with the ladies from higher levels of society. He lends elements of modern life placing them alongside pictures of the old life style to form a kind of comparison for the viewer to observe and experience and realize the effects of modern and urban lifestyles of today. His artworks tend to have a humourous flare that is his own signature style.
