THE ESRA LEMMENS AGENCY

THE ESRA LEMMENS AGENCY Empowering contemporary Designers and Artists worldwide We build towards that important, yet sometimes intangible emotion that empowers the artist’s work.

At the Esra Lemmens Agency we believe that, mainly due to the relatively high labor intensity of design, the level of work involved, and also because of its experimental mindset, design contributes to a large extent to high-quality, knowledge-intensive jobs. Reality shows that design plays an increasingly important role in the constantly evolving service economy and in order to be relevant to this

market the development of any great concepts stands on the added substance to design itself and the implementation of humanity. Under the sharp artistic approach and future minded guidance of Esra Lemmens herself, the Esra Lemmens Agency has developed custom strategies that bring clarity and definition to the designers work; it helps convey a specific message to a particular group of people, whether that is a conceptual or a commercial environment. At the Esra Lemmens Agency we combine Art and Design principles to evoke a cultural and emotional reaction, it connects to what you’re seeing and experiencing. Together with Designers, Artist and cultural organizations we work hand-in-hand to deliver that point, emotionally and physically. www.esralemmens.com

The Quiet Beginning // Some of the most profound lessons in my life have come from teachers who never spoke a single word to me. Horses respond to who you are in the moment you show up for them. They mirror it without distortion. Even your heartbeat can settle into theirs. There is no room for pretence, and no need for explanation.

After quietly clearing this space, it felt like the right moment to begin again.

When I first put my name on my business, I imagined a solitary path. Over time, it has evolved into something much larger; a collective effort shaped by a brilliant team and the global design narratives we build together. Because my days are spent crafting platforms and invisible scaffoldings for others, my own space has often been left in the shadows. That is the nature of work built on trust and discretion.

I am promising myself not to over-strategize or obsess over the structure of this feed, despite that going against my nature. I will keep it swift and spontaneous, a gentle sign of life here and there, a glimpse into what we achieve as a team and the design culture we contribute to.

Before anything else, I wanted to return to the true anchors, the cornerstone of this feed.

My horse remains my sanctuary away from the desk. It is where the noise fades, and where ideas are allowed to evolve at their own pace.

I have always believed that privacy is a form of power. While I won’t share the intricacies of my private life, I couldn’t begin this chapter without acknowledging the ones who keep me going.

A quiet ode to “Ramoncito”, “Ramonee”, “Don Ramon”, “My Darling Heart”. The one who teaches me patience, gives me an unrequested reality check every day, and never rushes an answer.

For me, this year, and every year remains the year of the horse.
A quiet beginning, authored with intent.

EPHEMERAL // This landscape is a study in temporality. Rock, sand, and water collide to produce forms that appear immutable, yet are in perpetual flux. What seems eternal is, in fact, eroding; what feels fleeting is quietly inscribing itself into geological time.

Much like design, these coastlines are not static. They are processes rather than objects — shaped by invisible forces, cultural narratives, and shifting conditions. To see them is to be reminded that permanence is an illusion, and that the beauty of form often lies in its transience.

PODCAST // Esra Lemmens kicked off season two with and on , diving into the intersections of creativity, strategy, and cultural influence.

They spoke about Esra’s journey from fine arts to strategy, why she believes design is not the icing but the infrastructure, and how her agency was born from the need to tell design stories with clarity and depth. Together, they explored what the Middle East’s design landscape has gained — and what it still needs — and how design is shaping not just objects, but cultural narratives, ethics, and even governance.

For Esra, design has always been about more than form. It is about consequence, identity, and the conversations we dare to have.

LIKE MANY OF US | Driven past countless times —a façade quietly composed of rhythm, repetition, and restraint.

Tucked into the vastness of The Dubai Mall, this seemingly modest surface becomes a study in precision. The interlocking geometric pattern—timeless in its Islamic lineage—is not ornamental, but intentional. It grounds the building in its cultural and geographical context, speaking a visual language that is both ancient and rigorously modern.

And then, the shadow of a palm. Temporary. Delicate. Unexpectedly architectural. It casts a soft counterpoint to the permanence of the wall—reminding us that in the Middle East, the environment is not a backdrop to design, but a collaborator in it.

Here, beauty lives in restraint. In materials that age well under sun. In patterns that breathe. In architecture that doesn’t clamor for attention, but earns it.

FAST FORWARD | A respected design publication is profiling your work. What’s the headline? What projects define your legacy? What values and vision set your studio apart?
In one paragraph, describe not just what you’ve built—but how the world experiences your work - That’s your brand.

Not a bio. Not a pitch. A feature.

This is an exercise about clarity. If you can’t imagine the story others will tell about your studio, chances are you haven’t told it clearly yourself.

A strong studio identity is not assembled from assets.
It is felt in the silence between decisions, in the quiet consistency of choices made over time. It lives in the emotional afterglow your work leaves behind.

A few principles to guide your writing

/ Emotion as Foundation / A brand begins where feeling begins. Not in aesthetics, but in atmosphere. Consider the emotional terrain your work occupies. What do people anticipate, sense, or carry with them long after engaging with your studio?

/ Identity as Behaviour / The most enduring practices are not those that describe what they are, but those that show it in every gesture. What you believe should be evident not only in your design language but in the way you speak, the way you decline, the way you remain.

/ Resonance over Repetition / Consistency is not mimicry. It is the echo of something true. Do your projects, your tone, your presence—across time—create a steady rhythm that others can recognise even without your name?

/ Think in Worlds, Not in Projects / The studios of the future will behave less like businesses, and more like cultural entities. Like the ateliers of couture, they will offer not just solutions, but systems of meaning. What kind of world are you quietly—and deliberately—building?

Write the feature that might one day be written.

SPOTTED & LOVED | Reviving the past, one layer at a time.

With their poetic “From The Earth” installation in Diriyah, are reshaping the future of Middle Eastern architecture — quite literally — using the region’s oldest material: desert sand. By sculpting with earth, clay and water, the duo brings new life to the ancient technique of rammed earth, celebrating a timeless craft with a deeply regional soul.

A powerful ode to place, memory, and material.

GOOD READ | If there’s one book that has truly stuck with me as a creative entrepreneur, it’s Orbiting the Giant Hairball by Gordon MacKenzie.

This quirky, insightful read is all about navigating the chaos of structure and bureaucracy while keeping your creativity alive. It resonated with me so deeply because, let’s be honest, as design entrepreneurs, we often find ourselves caught between the need to innovate and the pressure to conform.

MacKenzie’s perspective reminds me that it’s possible to “orbit” the system—stay close enough to make an impact but far enough to preserve your unique vision. It’s been a game-changer for how I approach my work and my journey as a creative.

If you’re looking for inspiration to stay true to your ideas while building something extraordinary, this book is a must.

In a world that’s always moving, staying visible is the key to growth and success. The work you do today is your brand’s story for tomorrow.

Keep walking forward, keep shining.✨

Visibility isn’t just a luxury; it’s a necessity. Make your mark, every single day.

SURGE Sustainable Design Competition| What an incredible experience it was to be part of the judging panel for this year’s Surge Sustainable Design Competition.

The level of creativity and passion showcased by designers from top studios was truly inspiring. Seeing the way each team interpreted the brief and worked in harmony with their build partners reminded me of the transformative power of design—not just to create beauty but to make a real, positive impact.

From a jury’s perspective, I focused on how well the designs aligned with Surge’s values, the eco-conscious approach to materials, and the innovation behind every detail. The craftsmanship and teamwork demonstrated by these designers left me in awe. It’s remarkable to witness how design can drive social change while raising awareness for such an important cause.

A huge congratulations to the winners who truly embodied the spirit of sustainable design! And to all the participants—your passion and dedication are what make events like this so meaningful.

Here’s to the power of design to uplift, inspire, and make a difference. Thank you, , for bringing us all together for a better future.
