Die Rose gilt seit Jahrhunderten als Sinnbild der Schönheit und damit gleichzeitig der Verführung. Farbe, Form und Duft sprechen die Sinne an, ziehen an. Zugleich setzt sie Grenzen: Stacheln schützen sie vor Fraß und unbedachtem Zugriff. In ihr verdichtet sich ein grundlegendes Prinzip, das weit über die Rose hinausweist. Der Verführung steht der Widerstand gegenüber. Auch er ist ein wiederkehrendes Motiv der Kunst: als Akt des Gewissens, als Zweifel, als offene Gegenwehr. Widerstand kann sich leise äußern oder laut, individuell oder kollektiv, symbolisch oder konkret. Verführung und Widerstand, Begehren und Grenze, Nähe und Distanz sind nicht allein kulturelle oder politische Phänomene – sie sind tief in den Mechanismen des Lebens selbst verankert.
The exhibition brings together international artistic positions spanning photography, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and installation, exploring the tension between attraction and resistance as fundamental strategies of life.
For centuries, the rose has been regarded as a symbol of beauty and, at the same time, seduction. Its colour, form, and fragrance appeal to the senses and attract. Yet it also sets boundaries: thorns protect it from predators and careless touch. Within it, a fundamental principle emerges that extends far beyond the rose itself. Seduction is countered by resistance. Resistance, too, is a recurring motif in art: as an act of conscience, doubt, or open opposition. It can manifest quietly or loudly, individually or collectively, symbolically or concretely. Seduction and resistance, desire and boundary, proximity and distance are not merely cultural or political phenomena — they are deeply embedded in the very mechanisms of life itself.
