What happens when we look at abstract art?

This reel offers a behind-the-scenes look at our interdisciplinary pilot study, where abstract art and science come together.

Art historians and natural scientists joined forces to explore how abstract visual structures may influence human perception, physiological responses and subsequent movement.

The data collection has now been completed, and the scientific analysis is underway.

Can abstract art influence how our body responds?

We are excited to introduce a new interdisciplinary pilot study exploring the relationship between abstract art and the human body.

The project investigates how different visual structures may influence human perception, physiological responses and subsequent movement.

Bringing together art history, mathematics, physiology and movement science, this research aims to deepen our understanding of how abstract art interacts with the human body.
The study features artworks by Austrian artist Heinz Möseneder.

Ein Leben für die Kunst.

Aus alten Fotoalben entstehen Einblicke in das Werk von Heinz Möseneder – von Momenten im Atelier bis hin zu internationalen Ausstellungen.

Seine Arbeiten wurden unter anderem in Manila (Philippinen), Indien, Frankreich, England, Deutschland und der Schweiz gezeigt und sind heute in verschiedenen Sammlungen vertreten.

Eine Annäherung an ein künstlerisches Leben.

Eva-Maria Möseneder brought works by her father, Heinz Möseneder, to the Côte d’Azur, turning Cannes into a stage for his art.

Surrounded by light, sea, and an international audience, his pieces met new perspectives and inspired curious and admiring eyes.

A quiet yet powerful dialogue between generations, places, and artistic expression.

Heinz Möseneder - an artist of versatility

He created sculptures in wood and stone, reliefs in bronze and copper as well as colorful stained glass windows. At the same time, he developed a broad spectrum of painting techniques: Acrylic, watercolor and mixed media.

▫️ PAINTING
His versatility was also evident in his painting: whether acrylic, watercolour or mixed media - Möseneder used every medium to visualize themes such as spirituality, eroticism and modernity in a unique way.

▫️ SCULPTURES
Möseneder's sculptures are three-dimensional forms of expression that explore the connection between the natural world and human existence. Using wood, stone and metal, he lent landscapes and the sensual form of the female body a new, tangible shape.

▫️GLASS WINDOWS
His glass windows are a harmonious combination of light, color and form - they transform rooms into spiritual oases. Through the transparency and luminosity of the glass, he made landscapes and transcendent ideas shine in a fascinating light.

📍Versatility as artistic identity
Painting, sculpture, reliefs, glass windows - Heinz Möseneder united all these forms into an unmistakable artistic cosmos. Few artists have realized themselves in as many media and forms of expression as he did.
