kunstraum konrad is an art space for international contemporary art in the center of puchberg am schneeberg. it was founded in 2020 by stefan schuster.

Wir freuen uns sehr, Teil des aktuellen Beitrags „Zwischen Bergen & Natur - Kunst & Kultur
Außergewöhnliche Kulturorte rund um den Schneeberg“ zu sein.

Die Gegend rund um den Schneeberg - einst Sehnsuchtsort für Sommerfrischler und Rückzugsgebiet großer Namen: Ludwig Wittgenstein unterrichtete in Puchberg am Schneeberg in der örtlichen Volksschule. Ernst Jandl und Friederike Mayröcker verbrachten einige Sommer hier und ließen sich von der idyllischen Bergkulisse inspirieren. Lange Zeit war es ruhiger in der Region, doch es ist wieder mehr kulturelles Leben zurück gekehrt ins Schneebergland.

Luca Petrányi explores how myth, memory, and ritual shape our understanding of the present. Her recent works span colonial micro-histories, folkloric symbols, and urban spirituality. Through batik textiles, collaborative research, and site-specific installations, she traces forgotten figures, questions inherited narratives, and reconnects bodies with place and history.

Luca will be our first residency artist at Kunstraum Konrad and will create new works in Puchberg from 1 - 11 August.

We are happy to announce our very first residency artist at Kunstraum Konrad!

Luca Petrányi’s artistic practice interweaves myth, memory, and materiality to explore themes of postcolonial identity, ritual, and ecological consciousness. Working mainly with wax-resist dyeing (batik), she engages with forgotten narratives and hybrid spiritualities, evoking speculative worlds that reframe the human relationship with nature, folklore, and the body.

Luca Petrányi has exhibited her work across Hungary and internationally. Her work is currently on view at the , where she was selected as a finalist for the Esterházy Art Award. She will be staying in Puchberg from 1 – 11 August and create new works in the studio.

„The exhibition uses exemplary works to show the roles that painting can take on today: it depicts personal experiences, engages with the visible environment in which it was created, or visualizes concrete emotional states. At the same time, it looks back into history—appropriating motifs from art history, incorporating visual elements from pop culture, and paying homage to overlooked artistic positions of the past.
What all the works in the exhibition have in common is their use of painting as a form of reflection—giving shape to thoughts in ways that go beyond the possibilities of language.„
