🛶 7.300 Jahre Salztransport: Vom Einbaum bis zur modernen Logistik ⛏️🧂
Wie kam das „weiße Gold“ vom Hallstätter Hochtal in weite Teile Europas? Bei Archäologie am Berg 2026 zeigen wir, wie sich der Salztransport über Jahrtausende entwickelt hat und welche Lösungen die Menschen dafür gefunden haben.
An verschiedenen Stationen könnt ihr selbst ausprobieren, wie in Hallstatt gearbeitet und geforscht wird: mit prähistorischen Werkzeugen arbeiten, Sole sieden oder dabei zusehen, wie hölzerne Soleleitungen hergestellt werden. Gemeinsam mit unseren Expert*innen geht es durch 7.300 Jahre Salztransport vom Einbaum bis zur modernen Standseilbahn. 🚠

How did the coveted “white gold” make its way from the Hallstatt High Valley to far-flung parts of Europe? At Archäologie am Berg 2026, we’ll show you how salt transport evolved over thousands of years and the solutions people developed along the way.
At various stations, you can get hands-on and discover how people worked in Hallstatt and how archaeologists conduct research today: try out prehistoric tools, boil brine to produce salt, or watch how wooden brine pipelines were made. Together with our experts, you’ll explore 7,300 years of salt transport, from dugout canoes to the modern funicular. 🚠
