The Reef Resilience Photo & Art Showcase is a vibrant exhibition celebrating South Australia’s extraordinary marine life and coastal environments throughout the recent summer months.

Presented by the Great Southern Reef Foundation, this special event brings together a curated selection of photography and artwork from across the state - capturing the beauty, stories, and resilience of our temperate reefs and the people who explore, care for, and connect with them.

Over the summer, divers, snorkellers, artists, and photographers were invited to document the colour, life, and changing conditions of our coastline. The response was incredible, with nearly 200 entries submitted from across South Australia. From underwater encounters to coastal perspectives, the exhibition showcases powerful imagery and creative works that reflect what is thriving, what is changing, and why our reefs matter.

Join us for the opening night celebration, where you’ll experience the exhibition, see the winning artworks and honourable mentions, and enjoy a vibrant night among community and fellow ocean enthusiasts.

The event will feature:
Live music by Caleb Raymond and Ella Stacey.
A Listening Post to listen to people whose lives have been impacted by the algal bloom, and collect words, imagery, thoughts, feelings and stories to inspire the music for composer Jodie O'Regan, which will be included in her piece Leviathan and will be performed live at the South Australian Museum on November 1.
Curated display of framed award-winning works from the 2025/2026 Reef Resilience Photo and Art Showcase.
New cinematic imagery of the resilience and recovery of the Yorke Peninsula coastline captured locally by GSRF's Stefan Andrews.
Update on the Edithburgh Monitoring Project with Elizabeth Solich and Paul McDonald.
Q&A panel discussion with Dominic McAfee (Adelaide University), Lochie Cameron (YP Citizen Scientist) and Paul Victory (Museum of Underwater Art).
Warm, cozy food available for purchase by Nourished by Jo.
Drinks available for purchase.
A Narungga Welcome to Country and yidaki by Garry Goldsmith at 6:30pm.

Don't miss this opportunity to meet artists, ocean lovers, and members of the local community.

Come celebrate the creativity, beauty, and resilience of South Australia’s reefs!

Following the opening event, the exhibition will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm from 4-19 July.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Ardrossan and the other areas of the YP were part of the 2026 Federation of Motoring Club's " Going North 2026" 8 day tour. Commencing at Willaston and visiting Clare, Burra, Peterborough,, Quorn, Hawker, Port Augusta and Port Pirie, the 1000km trip saw the 40 plus classic cars and caravans stop at the Kadina club rooms of the NYPVVMCC for lunch before the Friday drive to Ardrossan. Great reports on our local Ardrossan Caravan Park as a result of service and facilities enjoyed by the visitors.
Before the Saturday excursion, the group met up at the clifftop for a photo before travelling to the Harry Butler Memorial and the Bublacowie Military Museum. If you have not visited it lately, get down there; it's amazing! Members from the SYP Historic Vehicle Club dealt with suppiles of food for the lunch. Well done
Friday night meals at the Ardrossan Hotel Motel were top class; the food from a wide choice of items were enjoyed by all, as was the friendly service. 😂 Thanks from the local organisers for the help provided by the VIO staff. All in all, a great advert the town and the YP.😀

For those interested in historic cars, look out for nearly 40 vehicles arriving in Ardrossan on Friday PM, 22nd May. The group is part of the "Going North' tour. This is an event organised by the Federation of Historic Motor Clubs SA and commences on Saturday 16th May from Willaston, calling into Clare, Burra, Peterborough, Quorn, Port Pirie and Kadina, plus lots of others, before coming to Ardrossan for two nights, meals at the Ardrossan Hotel Motel on Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday 26th will see the group drive to Minlaton and onto Bublacowie Military Museum. Entrants have been given detals on what Ardrossan has to offer; the Op Shop was top of the list!
Look out for the cars on the Friday afternoon and before they head off of Saturday morning. Two local cars are taking part. This will be the third time that the tour has included Ardrossan, but the most time featuring our town,

Whilst it is often the case to complain about local council service, just a postive note in that on reporting a broken tread in the creek foot bridge, close to the jetty, three new pieces quickly put in to make it safe! Just took a quick call to 88320 000 and all fixed up.😀
