Last week left to see our group show IMPRESSIONS

Chris Vickery
Ash, Bone, and Clay
Dry point monoprint with layered found natural pigments

Ash, Bone & Clay -
Prints in this triptych layer topographical fragments of Tamworth, the landscape of my childhood, with the physical imprint of my body. Blending dry point maps of landmarks and paths, handprints, positive and negative spaces, and the physical residues of lived experience - soil, graphite, charcoal, and bone dust - the piece becomes a kind of archaeological record. It explores how memory, trauma, and experience are connected to place; stored not just in the mind, but in the body’s geography.

Another fantastic example of work in our group exhibition!

Leah Bullen
Afternoon window 2023
Photocopy transfer and watercolour on rice paper
Combining collage, drawing, photography, painting and printmaking techniques, Leah’s practice operates as a re-enactment of memory. ‘Afternoon Window’ is created through combining a collaged photocopy transfer, over painted with watercolour applied with spray bottles and rough torn paper stencils. This is one a series of works made as part of response to the work ‘Heysen’s Window’ by Sydney Ure Smith, part of the Hinton collection at NERAM. bullen

Another fab print featured in IMPRESSIONS until September 14

Jennifer Miller
Life in a Bowl
Gelliplate printing on bristol paper using botanicals, and collage on tea bag paper

Inspiration came while house sitting for a friend and looking after a compact coastal garden that featured a large pot being used as a fish pond. This print utilises some of the pressed water plants to make a botanical print. Experimenting with gelliplate printing, enjoying the possibilities of layering colours, making impression in the paint, and using different media to complete a print.

A glimpse into how I spent some of my time on a trip to Turkey and Greece in 2024; drinking Ouzo me meze (with snacks) and sketching in Archaeological Museums. Drawings produced in situ anywhere, either plein-air or in a museum, can be the trigger for memory and experience. Intuitive responses to the archaeological site at Troy and incidental compositions of the striking graphica of the Santorini collections from the National Archaeological Museum in Athens have been transposed from my travel diary onto wallpaper.
