On Saturday 17 October, dozens of us from Bathurst took one of the Bathurst Coaches up to Hill End, NSW. The trip was organised by the fantastic staff at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery to visit the studio and work of extraordinary artist Nicole Welch, who has a current exhibition at the Bathurst Art Gallery. We had a huge and delicious lunch beforehand put on by Hill End Micro Pub and then we were greeted at the home of Nicole by her husband Ross McDonald (past owner of The Hub in Bathurst).
What a wonderful place Hill End is and Nicole, Ross and the lovely ladies at Hill End Micro Pub couldn't have been more welcoming.
If you ever have an opportunity of going on one of these art and cultural tours from the Art Gallery or any other organisation, seriously consider doing so. There is another trip coming up for the opening of a special exhibition at the Cowra Regional Art Gallery on 14 November 2026. Not to be missed!

PRIMAVERA – What a fabulous night!
Australia’s going through a tough financial time at the moment, so it is refreshing to hear about an event that has exceeded all expectations.
Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Society is the fundraising arm of our beloved Bathurst Regional Art Gallery and last Saturday (12 September) held its annual art auction plus raffle at BoxGrove Country Retreat.
This is only the second time Primavera has been held, but people are saying it has already become the premier fundraising event for art in the Central West.
A large and enthusiastic crowd attended the gala event and in total raised over $16,000 on the night to assist the Bathurst Art Gallery – one of the oldest and esteemed art galleries in regional Australia. The Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Society is extremely grateful to the 12 artists who contributed their works, and the 10 local businesses and individuals that donated over $4,000 worth of prizes for the raffle.
Over the past 18 months, the Society has raised over $50,000 which has gone to conserve paintings, fund programs for the young, and print catalogues for exhibitions.
Art and culture is the “glue” that keeps community together. It also draws in tourists, and our library, gallery and museums play a vital role in attracting millions of tourist dollars to the district.
Thank you to all the donors, artists, volunteers that helped make this night a spectacular success. But most importantly, thank you – the people of Bathurst and beyond - who came in large numbers and generously bid for valuable works of art. It is your contribution that makes our Art Gallery grow and enrich our lives.

What a wonderful night was Primavera. All the artists' works on show, and many hours of work by tireless volunteers and generous sponsors.
We have raised much needed funds for the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery.

Wiradyuri Elder Yanhadarrambal Uncle Jade Flynn (0450496916) will be hosting photographic tours and tuition in Bathurst, with his first beginners class kicking off this month on the 19th September from the grassy area out the front of the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre.

'Hidden Histories' for photography beginners is an introduction to photography on Wiradyuri Ngurambang, Bathurst, learn about local Wiradyuri culture, and Bathurst history.

Date: Saturday, 19th September
Time: 9.00am – 12noon
Where: the grassy area out the front of the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre.
