Weā€™re thrilled to announce the appointment of Leigh Robb as the new CEO/Director of Ngununggula, commencing 23 November 2026.

Leigh is an experienced arts leader and curator with over twenty years in galleries and cultural institutions across Australia, the UK and Italy. Currently Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of South Australia, she has curated more than sixty exhibitions and is known for commissioning ambitious projects and raising the profile of Australian and First Nations artists.

ā€œIt is a privilege to join the team and be given the opportunity to lead Ngununggula into its next chapter,ā€ said Leigh.

Leigh's appointment comes as we celebrate five years since the gallery opened its doors. Please join us in welcoming her to Ngununggula and the Southern Highlands.

Last week, we celebrated five years of Ngununggula with a gathering of our incredible supporters, staff, educators, volunteers and members of our board - many of whom have been with us since the beginning.

Friday 23 October | Sasha Grishin - The iconography of Christmas in art

The iconography of the Nativity of Christ has a remarkable history from early Christian and Byzantine art through to the Renaissance and on to the present day. Join Emeritus Professor, Sasha Grishin from the National University of Canberra as he unravels some of the history and traces the survival of some of the pagan myths in the holiest of Christian images.

From tomorrow, for the next two weeks, our gallery spaces will be closed as we prepare for the opening of Stories from a small country town. Public programs will be running as usual.

Featuring Venice Biennale Golden Lion winner Archie Moore and internationally celebrated artist Daniel Boyd and curated by Bandjalung man and Southern Highlands resident Djon Mundine OAM, the exhibition interrogates the complexities of identity as expressed through social and physical action, trauma and its reverberations, as well as moments of play and joy.

Community Weaving is one of our most beloved public programs. Wiradjuri artist Jodie Munday teaches traditional and contemporary weaving techniques in sessions grounded in cultural knowledge, creativity and connection to Country.

Seniors week 2026 ā€˜Live Life in Colourā€™ with artist and educator Lily Cummins, brought together a group of older people in a workshop to celebrate memory, dreams and self expression.
