Together, the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art offer compelling experiences that will move and surprise you. Our two galleries each have their own distinct personalities, but are united in their purpose to share exceptional art. Queensland Art Gallery was established in 1895 and moved to its current residence at South Bank in 1982. It was joined by the Gallery of Modern Art in 2006

and the galleries now house a globally significant collection of contemporary art from Australia, Asia and the Pacific. The experience of a visit starts when the striking architecture of our riverside galleries comes into view. Glimpses of Brisbane continue to anchor you to our subtropical city from inside each gallery, while ever-changing exhibitions, programs and events broaden your horizons. QAGOMA is also home to a Children’s Art Centre that presents interactive artworks for kids and families, a cinema that celebrates film from around the world, plus gallery shops with art, books and cultural curios to take home. Every visit is a conversation starter, and our outdoor cafes and award-winning restaurant offer places for stimulating discussion. So whatever your mood, there is always something to capture your interest. Curate your next outing by checking what’s on, or drop in to see what’s new.

🎞️ 🎶 Experience the magic of silent film with live musical accompaniment at GOMA Cinema.

This special Live Music & Film screening pairs two extraordinary tales of obsession and longing: Louis Feuillade's 'Erreur tragique' (1913) and Yevgeni Bauer's 'Daydreams' (1915), a haunting melodrama often described as a precursor to Hitchcock's 'Vertigo'.

Accompanied live by Melbourne-based experimental musician Yuri Johnson, these silent masterpieces come vividly to life on the big screen.

‘I’d be glad to see it every year for the rest of my life.’ – Susan Sontag

In the bleak aftermath of a failed collective farm, the reappearance of the enigmatic Irimiás sparks dreams of escape and a future beyond the village. But hope and suspicion walk hand in hand.

Béla Tarr’s 'Sátántangó' transforms the textures of everyday life into something cosmic and timeless.

Hailed as a masterpiece for decades, see this extraordinary film in a stunning 4K restoration, only at GOMA Cinema.

Guess the colour! 👀🌈

Bathed in blue, the entry wall and surrounds of ‘Olafur Eliasson: Presence’ at GOMA reflect Olafur’s Icelandic heritage and his ongoing exploration of light, perception and the environment.

This tranquil hue by Dulux welcomes visitors into a multi-sensory experience shaped by colour, atmosphere and light.

Hint: its name evokes the atmosphere and luminosity of Iceland itself.

🎨🛫 From gallery to gateway. Two locations, one artist.

Did you know Brisbane Airport has a Public Art Collection that extends across the airport precinct, bringing contemporary Australian art into the everyday journeys of travellers. Among the works on display is Judy Watson’s Red Flood '2011', located in the International Terminal and offering a moment of reflection as visitors depart Brisbane.

We’re delighted that Watson’s burnt shield '2002' is now also on display in QAG’s Australian Collection, allowing audiences to experience another significant work from her practice while in Brisbane.

Our thanks to Brisbane Airport for their ongoing partnership and shared commitment to celebrating Australian artists and the stories they bring to our community.
