Camperdown & District Historical Society Inc. Volunteer based, non-profit organisation dedicated to Camperdown & district history in the south west of Victoria, Australia.

We plan to use this page to keep members informed about our latest activities. We'll show our latest acquisitions, advertise special events and new displays, and provide links to sites of possible interest. We could also be asking questions about artefacts that we already have but need to know more about. Local people have heaps of untapped knowledge about the district's past which we'd like to access.

FAREWELL AND GOOD LUCK
Volunteers from the Camperdown Historical Society met for dinner at the Hampden Hotel last night to farewell our Guest of Honour, Maree Murray. Maree and her late husband Kevin were regular volunteers at the Heritage Centre and we are very sorry to lose our friend Maree who is moving away to be closer to her family. Our very best wishes go with her. 💕💕💕

Great to see a good turn up of Camperdown people to celebrate the 150th anniversary of our Avenue of Elms. The weather was freezing and rain threatened but we’re obviously a hardy lot. The new sign was unveiled by the Mayor of Camperdown, Cr. Kate Makin and the party then finished the walk to the Camperdown Historical Society, where they were given a hot drink and were able to thaw out. They could also view the alphabetical list of original tree planters and identify their family’s tree on the 1876 map.

Good news! Our IT expert who looks after the website has heard the cries for the Avenue list of names to be available online. It is now in hand. The digitised list will be put on the website and a link posted on FB. Possibly with the map as well. Should be all done by Wednesday of this coming week. Watch this space!😀
