🩷This week is for the women - come share a meal with us! 🩷

We’re bringing women together for a relaxed evening of lingo, good food, yarns and company.

Join us on Saturday 12 September for a three-course dinner featuring some native ingredients and flavours.

It’s a chance to share a table, catch up and simply enjoy an evening together.
And this one is just for the grown-ups!

We know our women are often busy looking after everyone else, so this evening is a little chance for them to enjoy lingo, food and time together.

AI AND THE ARTS //
With Sophie Penkethman-Young

At the moment it feels like ‘Artificial Intelligence’ (better known as AI) is taking over the world. Or is at least dominating the conversation worldwide. But still, it remains perplexing.

Is it going to replace you at your job? Is it going to fill the internet with soulless slop? Can we trust what it tells us? Is it secretly plotting to kills us all? Or is it actually a useful tool to help us be more productive and do the things that we don’t want to do?

For artists especially understanding AI is increasingly important because of what it could mean for the creative industry.

We want to help answer all your AI questions! Join us at our next online workshop with self-proclaimed ‘Art Ho and Tech Bro’ and guest presenter Sophie Penkethman-Young.

Sophie brings a wealth of experience in both the digital and creative worlds and will take you through all the basic info you need to know about AI. Over two hours she will help you understand:

• What is AI? Where did it come from and what do we need to know about its history?
• What you need to know about AI image generation
• What implications does it have for ICIP (Intellectual and Cultural Property)?
• When is it appropriate/not appropriate to use it?
• What do we do about everyday tools we use as artists that now have AI features?

We hope to you can join us!

Musicians, music venues, do you have questions about PAYDAY SUPER?

MusicNSW have put together a suite of resources answering all the curly Q’s around this and are a running a free online session next Tuesday evening.

Emma Brophy (The Gild Group) will host an info session on Payday Super, focusing on the information you actually need to know as an artist, sole trader, music worker or music business owner. She’ll walk through the practical steps involved in getting set up, staying on top of your obligations and making sure super is being paid correctly and on time.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding on what Payday Super means and how to build superannuation into your working life without the overwhelm. The session will end with a Q&A segment where you can ask Emma any questions you’ve got.

🎉 Regional NSW artist Sooty Welsh wins Highly Commended at the 2026 Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards 🎉

On Friday 7 August, Wayilwan ceramicist, Sooty Welsh, was awarded a Highly Commended Award at the 2026 Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSAIAA).He was the sole representative from NSW and was one of only three artists to receive a Highly Commended Award at the event.

Sooty's entry, titled 'Scarred', was made up of three ceramic pieces that resemble scarred trees, with Wayilwan markings on the side to acknowledge his ancestors. The work is an expression of his experience as a child of the stolen generation. He links this experience and the long-lasting damage it has caused, to the traditional scarred trees of his Country.

Executive Director of Outback Arts Jamie-Lea Trindall said, "As the only artist from NSW in the exhibition, we are beyond proud to see Sooty's work chosen as a finalist. A huge congratulations to Uncle Sooty on this outstanding achievement in taking his Wayilwan story to the national stage."

Congratulates Sooty!

➡ Entries are now open for the 2027 Telstra NATSIAA. We strongly encourage Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists or collectives from regional NSW to apply before Monday 23 February 2027!
