The curators of Discovering the Impressionists have travelled from France for the exhibition installation and opening celebrations, and we’re delighted to have their expertise guiding this blockbuster exhibition. Marianne Mathieu is one of the world's leading authorities on Monet and Impressionism and Claire Durand-Ruel is a direct descendant of Paul Durand-Ruel.

Join them tomorrow in the beautiful Waterfront Ballroom at Crowne Plaza Geelong for a special In Conversation with Gallery Director & CEO, Humphrey Clegg, book now!

'In the 1870s Durand-Ruel developed an unshakeable but unfashionable belief that artists such as Monet, August Renoir, Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley were destined to be – like Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Jacques-Louis David before them – the glory of French art.’
—Elizabeth Fortescue, Australian Financial Review

Opening this Saturday 20 June at Geelong Gallery, Discovering the Impressionists: Paul Durand-Ruel, Art Dealer Among the Artists presents more than 70 Impressionist paintings, illustrating the remarkable legacy of the dealer who helped shape the movement and secure its place in art history.

Read more about the exhibition in Elizabeth Fortescue’s article in AFR Weekend.

To realise the full vision of Eric Thake—Do You See What I See?, including the publication and the significant costs associated with securing and presenting these works, substantial investment is required. Support through Geelong Gallery’s Annual Appeal will help ensure this important exhibition and its lasting scholarly contribution can be shared with audiences in Geelong and beyond.
