Kiama Art Workshops was founded by local artist, Rhonda Murray. It is now owned and run by Olivia Deans who is passionate about bring people and art together in a fun learning environment. New and varied art workshops are constantly being added, so take an opportunity to book in to tap into your creative side. Workshops are suitable for beginners through to advanced. They are kept to a small number (usually a maximum of 10 unless otherwise stated) and include sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking, textile design, jewellery design and much more. All of our artists are experienced in their choice of medium and have several years of teaching background. Come and join Kiama Art Workshops for a fun weekend away with a focus on art!

Sharon Sharon Bartle is an experienced weaver from Sydney who is bringing a car full of beautiful foraged botanicals and wreath bases, as well as dried flowers, and other recycled or ornamental pieces. You’ll get to learn the fundamentals of design and have support to create your own wreath ✨
When looked after these can last months - years on your wall as a beautiful decorative piece 🫶🏻

How amazing is this young girl who has been trying to draw and paint Benson Boone 🎨🎨🎨

She’s practiced with a sketch and has worked really hard to mix colours to create skin tone.

I always say to everyone creating a painting that we can’t fully judge it until it’s done 🫶🏻 In the meantime it’s just a work in progress x

Wednesday night’s focus was light and shadow. First we explored outdoors with pencil to ease into sketching and shading shadows. Then we talked about hard and soft shadows before applying last week’ colour theory 🎨

So blown away by everyone’s development and willingness to give it a go 🙌🏼

When did the switch change? In tonight’s kid’s I saw the girls initially not want to show anyone else their quick sketches.

The point of these were to make marks, be silly, and have a relax before stepping into colour mixing. Eventually they eased in, started chatting, and showing eachother their colour creations in the form of disco balls made from our primary colours and white.

Let’s hope our young ones don’t lose their spark because of other people’s opinions…
