Woolmers was delighted to welcome a group of students from TAFE into the Rose Garden earlier this month, where they undertook practical rose pruning as part of their Certificate II in Horticulture. It was a rewarding day for our gardens and for the students, and we hope it becomes an annual part of the estate calendar.

Festival Of Roses 2026 - Experience heritage in bloom 🌹

This November, the Rose Garden is in full bloom. Celebrate the season with 3,000 roses across 350 varieties in the middle of 200 years of history. The whole Estate is open for a day of wandering through colour and heritage.

Explore the Rose Garden, the grounds and all 18 original heritage buildings, then follow the Market Trail, featuring local makers. A handful of ticketed experiences are also available including guided walks with our gardeners, viewing of Woolmers House, Gin Tasting, Devonshire Tea overlooking the garden and wine & cheese picnic platters enjoyed amongst the roses.

Early Bird tickets are $10 until 30 September, then $15 general admission.

Woolmers Estate was a working farm right down to how it quenched its thirst.

This is the horse-powered stone cider-mill in the Cider House, built in the early 1840s. Apples grown on the estate were crushed under this wheel, then loaded into a box-press and squeezed using a massive timber lever, more like an ancient Roman wine-press than the screw-presses most cider houses used. The cider was fermented and stored in hogsheads holding up to 288 litres, and it was the main the main thirst-quencher and energiser for farm workers, especially through shearing and harvest.

Two UNESCO World Heritage Sites connected by a suspension bridge.

Walk the paths convicts walked in the 1820s and 1830s, through the actual landscape where they lived and worked. Cross the Macquarie River via a 40-metre suspension bridge connecting both Brickendon and Woolmers Estates.

Last month for a free cup by the fire. ☕🔥

This is the final month to warm up on our World Heritage grounds with a free tea, coffee or hot chocolate, 8–10am in our historic Servants Kitchen (1847), before winter's cosiest offer disappears for the season. It is also the only time of day you can access the Servants Kitchen Cafe without a ticket.

Two sittings only: 8am or 9am with only 15 spaces each.
