Taken between 1919-1921 as marked on back of photo after the Coonan Corner Store burnt at cnr. Wallace & Cooper Street Macksville.
How things have changed over the century, the dirt road, sulky and old car, what else can you notice?
The stores were from the laneway- Meyer Bros. General Store with Tobacconist, a furniture store, and showing Societies Hall and Auctioneer in Copper St.
Wallace St Pharmacy is situated where the furniture section was and has just completed a renovation of the store and shows the original press metal ceiling from this era of circa 1920.

What a wonderful time residents and volunteers had at Bluegum Café yesterday for Golden Oldies. Stories and laughs about the selected objects from the museum with one gentleman believing that he was weight lifting with the wooden sock darner, and hand exercises with the flour sifter, ten points for his imagination.
A huge thank you to Sonia and Kathy for organising this annual event, you ladies do an amazing job 👏, and thank you Nick for the delicious scones that you baked. 😋

Something for your calendar…….
Join us at the museum for our annual open day coinciding with History Week.
There will be local history books for sale, damper & scones and a good old cuppa tea or coffee available whilst you listen to some pioneering stories of the valley and read some as will.
Volunteers will be dressing to the theme, so make it a date and please come along to share in the history of our area.
Museum entry no charge for this special day only.
We only ask for a donation for afternoon tea.

This vintage Royal Albert Crown china set was kindly donated recently at the museum.
It is a Imari style design of orange rust coloured florals, black decorative bands and a metallic gold trim.
The set was possibly manufactured in England between 1925 to 1930.

Bit of a working bee at the museum today, big thank you to Jenny, Pat, Debbie, David and Leanne for getting some big and little jobs done, it all helps.
