🌙 TOPIC TEASER #6—THE CHRISTMAS STORY INCLUDES A DREAMER

Dreams don’t always unfold the way we imagine. Joseph’s certainly didn’t.

Betrayed by his brothers and taken far from home, Joseph faced suffering and uncertainty he could never have anticipated. Yet through every unexpected turn, God was at work—leading Joseph towards a purpose he could not yet see.

His story is one of many moments in the biblical narrative that reminds us how God’s larger story unfolds in ways we might never expect.

Follow along as we journey through 19 more moments in the biblical story, discovering how every chapter points to the coming of Christ.

🎨 Join us for the 4th Annual Advent Art Exhibition, featuring 25 original artworks exploring the biblical narrative from Creation to Christ.

MELISSA: INSTALLMENT 4.0

Somewhere along the way, art made by Christians became somehow secondary to secular art—less creative, less excellent, or just a little bit cliché.

But why should it be?

Art has the ability to move us, challenge us, make us think and help us see familiar things in new ways. And our faith is full of stories and themes worth exploring with imagination, skill and creativity.

One of my hopes for the Advent Art Exhibition is that we can contribute to a renewed excleelence in the world of Christian art, and a renewed appreciation for Christian art. Let's raise the bar, celebrate creativity and create work that is worth engaging with.

➡️ TOPIC TEASER #5—THE CHOICE

Leah experienced the pain of being Jacob's less-favoured wife, but her place in the story is more significant than it might have seemed.

It was through Leah's family line that King David—and ultimately Jesus Christ—would come.

God's unfolding story includes people whose lives are complicated, painful and unexpected. The people we might overlook can have a significant place in the bigger picture.

This is the fifth of 25 moments we're exploring through original artworks at this year's Advent Art Exhibition, tracing the biblical narrative towards the coming of Christ.

Melissa: Installment 3.0 🎬

A writer’s lament: imagine wanting to write the most incredible story ever told… only to realise the Author has already written it. ✍️

As a writer, I find it both humbling and wonderful that the greatest story ever told is God’s story—and that its beauty lies not just in individual moments, but in how they all fit together.

One of my hopes for this year’s Advent Art Exhibition is that people walk away seeing the interconnectedness of the biblical narrative: how the stories, promises and people across Scripture are woven together into one unfolding story, leading us to Christ.
