Nothing beats the action on the track, but there was something truly magical about seeing these off-road beasts lined up through the Village.

The energy and the roar of those engines rumbling down the Village street, headlights blazing as they rolled out into the night — was something special.

Huge thanks to everyone involved in the Miles Tyre and Battery 150 Miles for giving our visitors the chance to get up close with these incredible off-road machines. The energy was unreal. What a moment for our community.

I finally got around to finishing the full gallery from the Friday night grand opening at the Miles Tyre and Battery 150 Miles hosted by the Miles Historical Village Museum and organised by Brisbane Sporting Car Club for the and Australian Autosport Alliance (AASA)

I was glad I got to catch up with some of the drivers (and navigators) but I'll try harder to have a yack with everyone next year. Thanks for having me - it was great meeting you all and being a part of this amazing event.

As always, if anyone wants the high-res, non-watermarked version of their photos, please just shoot me a message at CamLife and Ill get them to you.

Step back to 1878, when Christy Andersen arrived in Miles and laid down roots on the corner of Marian and Tully Streets, establishing a humble smithy that would become part of the town’s story🔨🔨🔨

Today, the village is home to an old Smithy, originally built on ‘Benalta’ Jackson around 1910. Rich in character and history, the blacksmith’s building was generously donated to the village by Mr and Mrs Fergus Whatley in 1971.

With care and dedication, it was moved and lovingly restored by John and Jill Hancox, Martin and Cheryl Lingard and Graham White — ensuring this treasured piece of the past could be preserved for future generations.

Inside, visitors can discover a remarkable collection of blacksmithing tools and equipment, each one a reminder of the hard work, craftsmanship and daily life of years gone by

Shoutout to this local legend, Chris Vowles — one of Miles’ own and still rocking that classic Miles spirit wherever he goes. Caught up with him and his superstar navigator, Carla, and managed to snag a pic with some of his old Miles crew who were absolutely pumped to see him on Friday night.

A special moment captured in front of the iconic Mundell and Adams Garage, with their beast of a Trophy Truck stealing the spotlight.

Big smiles, bigger yarns, and even bigger pride watching “Benzie” tear up the track on race day. Community at its best!

Friday night at the Village was something special! We proudly hosted the Official Opening of the inaugural Miles Tyre & Battery 150 Miles Off Road Championships which took place over the weekend at Kowguran courtesy of the Parkinson Family.

The Village was buzzing — engines roaring, colours popping, and an incredible lineup of off-road vehicles filling the street. Spectators loved meeting the drivers and navigators and checking out these impressive machines up close.

Big thanks to the , , sponsor , and WDRC Deputy Mayor Kylie Bourne for officially opening the event.

Shout out to the for operating the bar and our Village Volunteers for assisting with setup and catering for the evening.

What a night. Huge appreciation to everyone who helped bring this together and to all the local Miles businesses and organisations involved. Hope the whole weekend was unforgettable for competitors and spectators alike.

Dairy/Cow Yard 🐄

Step back in time to the days when the Dairy, lovingly re-sited by Mr Wally Ey from North Dulacca in 1971, was the heart of the homestead. The echoes of Mr Ey’s labour can be heard as he crafted a sturdy cow yard, complete with a traditional bail and a well-worn milking stool. Mr Bill Flanagan put the finishing touch on this outback corner with a classic post and rail fence, winding together a scene straight out of a pioneer’s memory 🧑‍🌾🛖

This humble structure once stood as a cornerstone of daily life, found on nearly every early homestead across the bush. Picture the crack of dawn, the gentle shuffle of gumboots on dewy grass, the soft lowing of a dairy cow waiting patiently in the cool air and the aroma of fresh milk filling the yard. There’s a simple pleasure in remembering the promise of thick cream for your morning cuppa and the quiet satisfaction of a job well done. Wistful memories of a time when life moved a little slower and the rewards were all the sweeter 🐮🍵🧈
