It's also your last chance to see 'Transformations'. Its last day on show here at Orange Regional Museum is Monday 8 June!

Our regular Mondays at the Museum program is taking a pause for the public holiday, but will be back on Monday 15 June.

Petrol prices and road closures have been preoccupying the minds of Central West locals for months, but spare a thought for motorists 60 years ago as they grappled with the transition to the decimal system!

Connor’s Servatorium occupied a prominent place on Bathurst Road in Orange, operating as a garage and petrol station from the 1950s until its closure in 1974.

The Connor family donated a collection of material related to the family business to Orange Regional Museum, from photographs and wage books to examples of promotional gifts for customers and apprenticeship documents.

Treasures from this collection include a petrol pump quantity indicator wheel adapted to the incoming decimal system in 1966, using masking tape and blue marker to cover the previous markings. Another gem is a promotional decimal currency conversion sheet, issued by Connor's Servatorium to customers.

Mark your calendars - National Science Week 🧪🧬🔬 is back in August.

Primary schools are invited to join us at Orange Regional Museum for our annual 'Science at the Museum' education program. This year we'll be exploring the world of weeds and seeds, connecting to the NSW Science syllabus and the Science Week schools theme 'Seeds of Science'.

This free 90-minute learning program is designed for students in Year 2 to Year 6. Your class will explore our upcoming exhibition 'Untamed' and take part in a hands-on workshop where we'll experiment and use scientific thinking to discover how plant seeds are adapted to our environment.

Final days to see 'Transformations: Art of the Scott Sisters' at Orange Regional Museum.

Your last day to catch this beautiful exhibition is Monday 8 June 2026 before it flies off!

Explore the story, the artworks and the science of Harriet and Helena Scott, two of Australia's leading nineteenth century naturalists. Their work has been pivotal in understanding native Australian butterfly and moth species, and their paintings are still referred to by working entomologists today.

'Transformations: Art of the Scott Sisters' is an exhibition created by the Australian Museum. Open 9am to 4pm daily at Orange Regional Museum until 8 June 2026. Entry is free.

Our collection has been getting new headshots 🤳

In recent weeks, 150 maps and more than 100 objects in the Orange Regional Museum collection have been professionally digitised.

Many of these will feature in our new permanent local history exhibition, opening in November 2026.

Not only is this digitisation important for the development of our new exhibition, but it also marks the new stage of an ongoing project to make our collection publicly accessible online in the future 💻

Stay tuned for more info!
