PSA .. Here's two great things to do on the week-end - get to the book sale in the Paynesville Community Hall and spend some time at the Glimpses of the Past exhibition in the library breezeway.

Please show your support for our local community groups.

The Friends of Paynesville Library are running their massive BOOK SALE in the hall next to the library for all of the King's Birthday weekend, right next door to the museum's Glimpses of the Past exhibition featuring historic photographs and some artworks by Flora Minter. Do yourself a favour, get some books at the book sale, take some time out to enjoy the museum's exhibition.

In case you missed the earlier good news (please scroll down to find it) a group at Orbost is working towards finding the Curlip a forever home, right near the Snowy River.

To celebrate this great news, we've put together this little clip using an old powerpoint presentation (found in the museum's dungeons) showing some of the early construction of the Curlip and some of the dedicated people who helped make it happen.

If you recognise yourself or others, please feel free to let us know. Sadly , some may have passed on, the photos are about 20 or more years old.

p.s. Curlip had some gigantic bicycle chains.. :)

Here's an inspiring tale of the restoration of the P.S. Canally.

Rescued from a watery grave over 25 years ago, PS Canally is back in service on the mighty Murray River.

After being raised from the bottom of the river, dug out of the mud, and lovingly restored, the PS Canally is ready to take passengers up and down the River Murray.
