During his PICA residency at Taipei’s Treasure Hill Artist Village this year, Tom Campbell () explored language, migration and his Kadazan heritage, tracing connections across Austronesian histories and reconnecting with family in Sabah.

Read our interview with Tom about the residency, his heritage and where his work is heading. https://pica.org.au/tom-campbell-treasure-hill-artist-village/

Continuing the City of Perth’s long sister-city relationship with Taipei, PICA and Taipei Artist Village partner on an exchange program that sees one artist from WA spend twelve weeks in Taipei at Treasure Hill Artist Village and one Taiwanese artist in residence at PICA.

Applications for the Perth–Taipei Residency close on 21 September 2026 at 5pm, visit pica.org.au for more information!

A huge congratulations to Alana Hunt on the upcoming opening of 'To the Owner' at UTS Gallery, Sydney, on 10 September 2026. 'To the Owner' is Alana's first institutional solo exhibition in Gadigal Nura/Sydney.

Following her major solo exhibition 'A Deceptively Simple Need' at PICA, curated by Jasmin Stephens, Alana brings this important body of work to a new audience. To the Owner extends her long-term examination of property ownership, housing insecurity and the ongoing impacts of colonialism through film, photography, print and text, building on work first presented at PICA as part of the Copyright Agency Partnerships (CAP) Commission series.

Alana's practice invites us to question the stories we tell ourselves about home, belonging and land, and to look more closely at the structures that shape everyday life. We are proud to have supported the development of this work and thrilled to see it continue its journey and reach new audiences.

If you're in Sydney, make sure you check it out when it opens next week. https://www.uts.edu.au/events/exhibition-opening-to-the-owner

Congratulations Alana, and to the team at UTS Gallery on this significant exhibition.
