Museum of Perth Formerly a cyber-museum. An exhibition space and cultural & research hub chronicling the social, cultural, political & architectural history of Perth.

The Museum of Perth chronicles the social, cultural, political and architectural history of Perth. Our exhibition space, in the Atlas Building, 8-10 The Esplanade, serves as a meeting place of ideas and stories, an event space and research and cultural hub in a growing part of our city. The Museum is an initiative of the Perth History Association Inc, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2015; We are seeking volunteers and financial supporters to help us along the way.

We've noticed a sharp uptick in fake AI slop images about the history of Perth and Western Australia circulating on Facebook.

The image below is one example. It may look convincing at first glance, but it's completely incorrect, as you can see from the other, real images.

Images like this spread quickly through Facebook groups and can give an entirely misleading impression of our history. Before you like, share or comment, please take a moment to look critically at what you're seeing.

If in doubt, go to a reputable source: the State Library of Western Australia, the WA Museum Boola Bardip, the Royal Western Australian Historical Society or your local historical society, or a page like the Museum of Perth You can trust that what we share rests on historical research and careful due diligence.

Thank you for helping keep the real story of Perth and WA accurate.

Ps. A full history of the Pensioner Guard Barracks can be found on our website: https://www.museumofperth.com.au/forgotten-stations
