✨“If I wasn’t able to do this, I think I would really lay down and die. Music comes from a very primal, twisted place. When a person sings, their body, their mouth, their eyes, their words, their voice says all these unspeakable things that you really can’t explain but that mean something anyway. People are completely transformed when they sing; people look like that when they sing or when they make love. But it’s a weird thing – at the end of the night I feel strange, because I feel I’ve told everybody all my secrets.” - Jeff Buckley

🕯️🤍Thinking about Jeff Buckley today, who we lost tragically on this day in 1997. .. 29 years ago…

This beautiful photo was taken in Orlando, Florida in 1995, where they had brought in a portable bed for Jeff to do his interviews as he’d been up all night.. taken by Merri Cyr.. 📸

Thank you for the music and the secrets Jeff…💫
The world misses you… Peace & Love ✌️❤️🎶

Happy 80th Birthday Queen ✨

✨ This incredibly beautiful sequence of photographs is shot by Norman Seeff in his studio in LA 1973.. Here’s the story: “The first shoot I did with Cher was not meant to be a session, at least as far as I understood. I got a call saying that she wanted to come to the studio and she showed up with her friend Paulette looking gorgeous.
On a whim, I asked her if she wanted to shoot so we just hung out and I shot 6 or 7 rolls of film very informally. Every image is pure Cher magic and I’ve since been told by Paulette that Cher had planned to do a session all along - and had made sure she had perfect make-up before she came. Cher has since used the images from this session for an album cover and merchandise, including her 2017 Vegas show. “ - Norman Seeff 📸

⚡️The Godfather of punk is 79!!
Happy Birthday to the living legend that is Iggy Pop 🎉

How great is this photo taken by Mick Rock in 1972..
Here’s the story: “Shot at Kings Cross Cinema, London July 15th 1972. The session includes the iconic ‘Raw Power’ cover shot. It was only a 40 minute set, but it became legendary. The Stooges first ever concert outside of the USA. Many years later I wrote about it: “Iggy was like something caged, and very angry about it. Something dreamed up by Karl Jung.” This is one of my all-time fave performance shots.” “You want more than just a pretty picture. You want something as strong as the music. A great photo should be like a hit single, something that keeps drawing you back for another look” - Mick Rock 🙌

Here’s to you Iggy! Bet you can still do this backbend!

Peace & Love! ✌️❤️🎶

⚡️☔️ “Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called “life”
Electric word, life
It means forever, and that’s a mighty long time….”

It’s been 10 years since we lost Prince Rogers Nelson.. 💜

Absolutely loving this photo of Prince with Purple Clouds, taken during the filming of the finale for his “U Got The Look” music video, in 1987 by Joel Bernstein. ✨

When asked about Prince, Bernstein touched upon the way his music was able to work with both the ‘sacred’ and the ‘profane’ at the same time. “He was a brilliant artist who existed on an entirely different plane, and for me, this photo highlights that combination of spirituality and sexuality Prince possessed.” 💜

“The picture that says everything to me about music, dreams, style and the depth and soul of a musician is Prince’s ‘U Got The Look’ picture, I want to weep when I see it because it says it all its a prayer, it’s a magic show its every musician I have ever known, and the picture actually captures it for me.” - Whoopi Goldberg

RIP Prince 💜 Let’s look for the purple banana… ✨

”The sun is gone, but I have a light”...
It’s been 32 years…. 💔

Photographer Jesse Frohman recalls that day of April 5th 1994:

“It’s been 31 years when my day came to a screeching halt with a flood of phone calls from magazines and news outlets wanting pictures of Kurt. My assistants and I were working in the office producing a job - Vanity Fair was first to call, telling us that Kurt had just died. Then it was Rolling Stone, Spin, The New York Times, and many others calling to see this now famous shoot, but at the time I thought was just another shoot of a great band. Interesting note that many of the magazines wanted to run the studio shots of Kurt on their covers, but Kurt never took off the sunglasses for that part of the shoot, and because it is important for magazines to have eye contact for their cover photos, not one magazine ran my pictures as a cover.

Kurt and I had a very brief relationship - crossing ships on our life journeys - and although I would not dare to say I knew the man, I got a distinct portrait (aside from the photos) of who he was. I cherish these moments with great artists and personalities, including James Brown, Little Richard and many others no longer with us. We all have their music to enjoy and inspire us, and I also have the memories of shared moments of artist collaboration, and that is what I ultimately love the most about what I have been blessed to do.

So thank you to Kurt for sharing yourself with my camera so that I might memorialize you and that moment. Thanks also to Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic for one of the greatest bands ever.” - Jesse Frohman

✨ RIP Kurt D. Cobain February 20 1967 - April 5th 1994.. the world misses you 🕊️

Peace & much love ✌️❤️🎶

🔥 Celebrating International Women’s day with some incredible women in music.. 🙌

Here’s Debbie Harry of Blondie with Joan Jett and Lita Ford of the Runaways in 1977 photographed by Chris Stein. According to Chris, “the rock and roll establishment was firmly male-oriented at the time; Debbie and the Runaways were the first wave of female rockers to pave the road for the more equitable split we now have between male and female musicians”.. Hell yes!! ⚡️ Rock on ladies! ⚡️
