ARTIST WORKSHOP | with Raymond Young

Get creative, have a yarn and paint alongside artist Raymond Young on Monday 29 June.

Ray is a proud Gunditjmara Gunai Yorta Yorta man whose art is shaped by Indigenous culture and country. In this all-ages, all-skill-levels workshop, participants will learn Ray's process and techniques - and leave with their own painting inspired by his style.

The day also includes a cultural cook in the ground (kup murri), with lunch served on completion. All materials supplied. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult.

ENTRIES OPEN | John Leslie Art Prize 2026

If you've been thinking about entering Australia's favourite landscape painting prize - now is a great time to get that work ready.

The John Leslie Art Prize offers a $30,000 Acquisitive Prize and a $1,000 prize for the Best Gippsland Work, open to all artists living and working in Australia for landscape paintings completed since 1 March 2024. Entries close 17 July 2026.

Finalists will be exhibited at Gippsland Art Gallery from 5 September - 22 November 2026.

This year, The Friends of The Gallery is delighted to host its annual dinner in celebration of the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition Cartier at the NGV. The guest speaker is Amanda Dunsmore, Senior Curator of International Decorative Arts and Antiquities at the National Gallery of Victoria - the curator behind Cartier itself. Amanda will present an illustrated talk on the exhibition, sharing the stories, history and craftsmanship behind one of the world's most iconic jewellery and luxury houses.

GALLERY CLOSURE | Making way for Winter 2026

Our Autumn exhibitions have come to a close - and what a season it's been. Thank you to everyone who came through our doors.

The gallery will now close briefly while we prepare something extraordinary for our Winter season.

This winter, we welcome Frank Mesaric: Gippsland Gothic - a landmark retrospective spanning five decades of work by one of Gippsland's most significant artists. Three gallery spaces. A body of work five decades in the making.
