Live Artist Demonstrations This Long Weekend at Somersby Art Gallery

As part of the Creative Journey Artist Trail, several of our talented artists will be demonstrating their skills throughout the June Long Weekend.

* Gretchen Miller will be demonstrating wheel throwing on Saturday, creating beautiful ceramic pieces on the pottery wheel.

* Trudi Bean and Birgit Floehrmann will be demonstrating gel plate printing at 11am and 1pm each day, sharing their creative techniques and processes.

* Julie-Anne Roger will be demonstrating eco-dyeing on Monday.

* Watch artist Kim Wilson painting in oils throughout the weekend and see how her beautiful landscape paintings come to life.

There’s nothing quite like seeing artists create their work firsthand and having the opportunity to chat with them about their techniques, inspiration and creative journeys.
Our other gallery artists will also be bringing in new works for the weekend, making this a wonderful opportunity to see a diverse collection of original paintings, ceramics and mixed media artworks.

Somersby Art Gallery is officially on the map! The Artist Trail is on next weekend 6–8 June.

We’ve only been open since Christmas, and in that short time we’ve grown from a small group of artists to more than 10 talented local creatives. The gallery may be a small space, but it’s filled with unique, original works, and because we operate on a not-for-profit basis and take no commission, the artwork is very reasonably priced.

This June Long Weekend, Somersby Art Gallery is part of the Creative Journey Artist Trail. We’re also located right in the heart of the Harvest Festival region (Sat and Sun), making us a great stop while exploring the area. Meet local artists, watch demonstrations, discover original paintings, ceramics and mixed media works, and enjoy a relaxed country gallery experience.

Beautiful work and poetry by Annette Kelsey. Annette exhibits across a number of galleries, and we feel very fortunate to have some of her work here at Somersby Art Gallery. Her paintings have a wonderful sense of atmosphere, colour and connection to the landscape, and it’s always a pleasure to share them with visitors.
