Texheritage Bangladesh - is Bangladesh’s first dedicated, research-based textile museum and digital archive, established to research, archives, education and future generation's Innovations. Texheritage Bangladesh is a textile museum and preservation initiative dedicated to safeguarding and celebrating the rich textile heritage of Bangladesh and the global textile industry. এখন সময় এসেছে আমাদের টেক্সটাইল জ্ঞান, সৃজনশীলতা, কারিগরি দক্ষতা এবং ইতিহাসকে বিশ্বের সামনে তুলে ধরার।

যখন আমি Texheritage-এর ভিশন শেয়ার করা শুরু করি, তখন একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় বুঝতে পারি—

মানুষ ট্রেন্ডের সাথে সহজে যুক্ত হয়।
কিন্তু ঐতিহ্য বুঝতে সময় লাগে।

অনেকেই গার্মেন্টসকে শুধু একটি প্রোডাক্ট হিসেবে দেখে।
কিন্তু আমি এটিকে দেখি আমাদের ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল আইডেন্টিটির অংশ হিসেবে।

প্রতিটি ফ্যাব্রিক, ট্রিম, ওয়াশ স্যাম্পল, মেশিন এবং ডেভেলপমেন্ট একটি গল্প বলে—কারিগরি দক্ষতা, ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং, মানুষ এবং অগ্রগতির গল্প।

আজ হয়তো এনগেজমেন্ট কম।
কিন্তু অর্থবহ উদ্যোগ কখনো শুধুমাত্র অ্যালগরিদমের জন্য তৈরি হয় না।

এগুলো তৈরি হয় ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মের জন্য।

একদিন আমি বিশ্বাস করি, বাংলাদেশের টেক্সটাইল ঐতিহ্য আমাদের জাতীয় শিল্প ইতিহাসের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ হয়ে উঠবে।

আর সেই দিন, আজকের এই ডকুমেন্টেশন ও সংরক্ষণই সবচেয়ে মূল্যবান হয়ে উঠবে।

Jamdani: as a Living Textile Knowledge Archive
A Curatorial & Technical Perspective from Texheritage Bangladesh Museum

Jamdani is one of the most advanced surviving handloom systems in the world, rooted in Bengal’s ancient muslin tradition and refined during the Mughal era (17th–18th century). Historically centered in Dhaka–Sonargaon, it was once a globally traded luxury textile supported by royal patronage.
In 2013, UNESCO recognized Jamdani weaving as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, highlighting its cultural and historical significance.

Technically, Jamdani is produced through a manual supplementary weft technique, where motifs are inserted by hand using warp-count precision and artisan memory — without mechanical automation.

Core motif systems include:

Ans: TEXHERITAGE BANGLADESH MUSEUM.

At present, Bangladesh does not have a single unified curator or centralized system responsible for documenting, preserving, and presenting our rich textile heritage. Instead, this responsibility is distributed across museums, researchers, designers, educators, and independent initiatives.
While institutions and individuals are doing important work, the effort remains fragmented.

That is exactly why TEXHERITAGE BANGLADESH MUSEUM was created.
