We already shared that SHALA_Neighbourhood Art Space is presenting a total of 20 films and video arts at Backyard Biennial: East 2026 in London in collaboration with Oitij-jo Collective and Whitechapel Gallery. We are happily sharing that we are going to screen the films and video arts in Dhaka on 14th August 2026 at our SHALA_Neighbourhood Art Space.
We are presenting the films and artworks under two categories- The Process of Being Womxn and Labour, Migration and Home. The Process of Being Womxn centres narratives focusing on women’s energy, disruption and renewal. Labour, Migration and Home deals with accidental death of garment workers in Bangladesh, labour of migrants in the abroad, the unending chain of labor in the tea plantation in Bangladesh, formations and transformations of home and reflection on an industry and its labourer in the period of British India.
