জাতীয় সংসদের মাননীয় স্পিকার হাফিজ উদ্দিন আহমদ বীর বিক্রম এবং ডেপুটি স্পিকার ব্যারিস্টার কায়সার কামাল আজ জুলাই গণঅভ্যুত্থান স্মৃতি জাদুঘর পরিদর্শনে আসেন। জাদুঘর প্রাঙ্গণে তাদেরকে অভ্যর্থনা জানান সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক মন্ত্রণালয়ের মাননীয় মন্ত্রী নিতাই রায় চৌধুরী।
জাদুঘরের লং ওয়াক টু ডেমোক্রেসি অংশে তারা ১৯৭১ থেকে এ পর্যন্ত এদেশের মানুষের সংগ্রামের চিত্র, শহীদ আনাসের চিঠিসহ বিভিন্ন ম্যুরাল ও গ্রাফিতি দেখেন। পাশাপাশি কোটা আন্দোলন, বৈষম্য বিরোধী আন্দোলন সহ শেখ হাসিনার আমলে সংঘটিত বিচার বহির্ভূত হত্যাকাণ্ডের নথি ও বিবরণীর পাশাপাশি জুলাই অভ্যুত্থানে আহত ও শহীদদের স্মৃতিচিহ্ন পরিদর্শন করেন।
পরিদর্শনকালে স্পিকার ও ডেপুটি স্পিকার পুরো জাদুঘরটি ঘুরে দেখেন এবং এর প্রতিটি প্রদর্শনী গভীর মনোযোগের সাথে পর্যবেক্ষণ করেন। পরিদর্শন শেষে তারা উপস্থিত সাংবাদিকদের সাথে মতবিনিময় করেন।
এ সময় সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক মন্ত্রী নিতাই রায় চৌধুরী বলেন, ‘জুলাই অভ্যুত্থানসহ বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসে গণতন্ত্রের জন্য মানুষের সংগ্রামের গৌরবোজ্জ্বল অধ্যায় এই জাদুঘরে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। বর্তমানে শেষ মুহূর্তের প্রস্তুতি সম্পন্ন করতে ব্যাপক কর্মযজ্ঞ চলছে। আশা করা যাচ্ছে, আগামী জুলাই অথবা আগস্টের শুরুতে মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী নিজে এই জাদুঘর উদ্বোধন করবেন।’
ডেপুটি স্পিকার ব্যারিস্টার কায়সার কামাল বলেন, ‘বাংলাদেশের দামাল ছেলেরা যেভাবে দেশকে স্বৈরাচারের কবল থেকে মুক্ত করেছে, এই জাদুঘরে এলে তার প্রকৃত চিত্র অনুধাবন করা যায়। মহান জুলাই অভ্যুত্থানের মাধ্যমে দেশে গণতন্ত্র পুনঃপ্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। এই জাদুঘর যেমন অভ্যুত্থানের বীরদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদনের জায়গা, তেমনি ফ্যাসিবাদবিরোধী আন্দোলনের স্মৃতিকেও অম্লান রাখবে। পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের জন্য এখান থেকে অনেক কিছু শেখার আছে।’
পরিদর্শনকালে স্পিকার ও ডেপুটি স্পিকার দুজনেই উল্লেখ করেন যে, এই জাদুঘর নির্মাণে সক্রিয় ভূমিকার জন্য সাবেক উপদেষ্টা ও এই জাদুঘরের কিউরটরিয়াল ডিরেক্টর মোস্তফা সরয়ার ফারুকী কৃতিত্বের দাবিদার।
একইসাথে তারা এই জাদুঘরের চীফ কিউরেটর ও জাতীয় জাদুঘরের মহাপরিচালক তানজিম ওয়াহাব ও তার সাথে সংশ্লিষ্ট সকল গবেষককে ধন্যবাদ জানান।
এছাড়াও সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময়ের সময় মাননীয় স্পিকার জুলাই গণঅভ্যুত্থানের স্মৃতি সংরক্ষণে অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকারের সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক মন্ত্রণালয়ের উদ্যোগের প্রশংসা করেন এবং বর্তমান মন্ত্রী নিতাই রায় চৌধুরীকে আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ জানান।
স্পিকার বলেন, ‘বাংলাদেশের প্রকৃত ইতিহাস যথাযথভাবে তুলে ধরার জন্য এই জাদুঘরের সঙ্গে সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলে অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রম করেছেন। এই জাদুঘরটি পরিদর্শন করলে অশ্রু সংবরণ করা কঠিন হয়ে পড়ে। এদেশের তরুণ, কিশোর ও শিশুরা গণতন্ত্র প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য যেভাবে আত্মত্যাগ করেছে, তা কেবল বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসে নয়, বরং সারা বিশ্বের কাছে এক অনন্য উদাহরণ হয়ে থাকবে। জুলাই-আগস্টের এই মহান গণঅভ্যুত্থান এবং এই জাদুঘর যুগ যুগ ধরে বাংলাদেশের মানুষকে অনুপ্রাণিত করবে।’
The Honorable Speaker of the National Parliament, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikrom, and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal visited the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum today. They were received at the museum premises by the Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Nitai Roy Chowdhury.
In the 'Long Walk to Democracy' section of the museum, they viewed murals and graffiti depicting the history of people’s struggles from 1971 to the present, including Martyr Anas’s letter. Additionally, they observed documents and accounts of extrajudicial killings during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, as well as records of the Quota Reform Movement and the Anti-Discrimination Movement, along with mementos of those injured and martyred in the July Uprising.
During the visit, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker toured the entire museum and observed every exhibit with deep attention. Following the inspection, they engaged in an exchange of views with present journalists.
At this time, Minister of Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury stated, ‘The glorious chapters of people’s struggle for democracy in the history of Bangladesh, including the July Uprising, have been portrayed in this museum. Massive efforts are currently underway to complete the final preparations. It is expected that the Honorable Prime Minister will personally inaugurate this museum in early July or August.’
Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal remarked, ‘The true picture of how the brave sons of Bangladesh liberated the country from the clutches of autocracy can be realized upon visiting this museum. Democracy has been re-established in the country through the great July Uprising. This museum is a place to pay tribute to the heroes of the uprising and will keep the memories of the anti-fascist movement immortal. There is much for future generations to learn from here.’
During the visit, both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker noted that the former Advisor and Curatorial Director of the museum, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, deserves credit for his active role in the construction of this museum. Simultaneously, they thanked the Chief Curator of the museum and Director General of the National Museum, Tanzim Wahab, along with all associated researchers.
Furthermore, during the press briefing, the Honorable Speaker praised the initiatives of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Interim Government in preserving the memories of the July Mass Uprising and extended sincere thanks to the current Minister, Nitai Roy Chowdhury.
The Speaker said, ‘Everyone associated with this museum has worked tirelessly to accurately present the true history of Bangladesh. It is difficult to restrain tears when visiting this museum. The way the youth, adolescents, and children of this country have sacrificed their lives to establish democracy will remain a unique example not only for Bangladesh but for the entire world. This great July-August uprising and this museum will continue to inspire the people of Bangladesh for generations.’
