Cette semaine, j'ai pu finaliser le parcours d’un nouveau "Historical Battlefield Tour" où vous pourrez marcher sur les pas du Kampfgruppe Knittel dans la vallée de l’Amblève dans sa mission pour la prise de Stavelot. Ce Battlefield Tour long de 14km se donnera à des marcheurs avertis.

Ce nouveau tour s'ajoute à ceux déjà disponibles :

- The battle of Krinkelt-Rocherath.
- The 99th Infantry Division combats area.
- The advance of Kampfgruppe Peiper.
- Kampfgruppe Knittel, Attack of Stavelot.

This week, I finalized the route for a new "Historical Battlefield Tour" where you can walk in the footsteps of Kampfgruppe Knittel in the Amblève Valley during their mission to capture Stavelot. This 14km Battlefield Tour is suitable for experienced hikers.

This new tour joins those already available:

- The battle of Krinkelt-Rocherath.
- The 99th Infantry Division combats area.
- The advance of Kampfgruppe Peiper.
- Kampfgruppe Knittel, Attack of Stavelot.

Le week-end dernier, j'ai eu le plaisir de guider à nouveau un groupe enthousiaste sur le champ de bataille de Krinkelt-Rocherath. La journée était consacrée aux combats de la 2e division d'infanterie, de la 99e division d'infanterie et du 741st Tank battalion, depuis les violents affrontements au carrefour de Walherscheid jusqu'aux batailles qui se sont déroulées dans les villages jumeaux, en passant par les premières lignes de défense américaines à la frontière allemande.

Rendez-vous à l'automne pour la prochaine visite du champs de bataille !

Last weekend, I once again had the pleasure of leading an enthusiastic group on the Krinkelt-Rocherath battlefield. The day was dedicated to the battles of the 2nd Infantry Division, 99th Infantry Division, and 741st Tank Battalion, from the fierce fighting at the Walherscheid crossroads to the battles within the twin villages, including the first American lines of defense on the German border.

Hier, Visite de la plaine du camp militaire d'Elsenborn ou se trouvaient de nombreuses batteries d'artilleries US pour la défense du secteur nord. Hommage rendu à la batterie C du 15th Field Artillery Battalion. Le 15th FAB utilisa notamment ses 3 batteries de canons Howitzer 105mm (12 au total) pour défendre le 1er bataillon du 9th Regiment d'infanterie lors de la bataille du carrefour de Lausdell le 17 décembre en effectuant des tirs d'une grande intensité pendant plusieurs heures.
Visite également du musée du camp, musée très intéressant à découvrir !

Yesterday, I visited the Elsenborn military camp grounds, where numerous US artillery batteries were positioned to defend the northern sector. A tribute was paid to Battery C of the 15th Field Artillery Battalion. The 15th FAB notably used its three batteries of 105mm Howitzer guns (12 in total) to defend the 1st Battalion of the 9th Infantry Regiment during the Battle of Lausdell Crossroads on December 17th, maintaining intense fire for several hours. I also visited the camp museum, a very interesting museum well worth exploring!

Sur les traces du Pvt Donald Richard Powers, tué à Rocherath le 17 décembre. Donald était dans la compagnie C, 1er bataillon, 38th infantry regiment, 2nd infantry division.

Following in the footsteps of Private Donald Richard Powers, killed at Rocherath on December 17th. Donald was in C Company , 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.
