Frederic Geurts explores the limits of gravity and materiality in his constructions. He combines imagination with inventiveness in calculating, assembling and testing these often fragile and precarious-looking constructions, which resemble three-dimensional drawings. Erik Bracke described one of Geurts’ sculptures as a “sublime image at the precarious intersection between heaviness and lightness, between the tangible and the ephemeral, between the earthly and the heavenly, between falling and flying.”
