[MUSEUM SALE]

We are proud to share the first in a number of museum acquisitions following our inaugural participation in the in March.

Following its recent rediscovery in a Dutch private collection, Abraham van Diepenbeeck’s “Sheet of figure studies” was swiftly sold to the Frits Lugt Collection at the in Paris. Executed on the back of a letter written to the artist during his time in Paris, the drawings gives us a beautiful insight into van Diepenbeeck’s day-to-day working process.

The first few days of the have flown by, with lots of private as well as institutional interest in our collection. We are pleased to have already found new homes for several works, and with five more days to go we are excited to see what the rest of the fair will bring.

Pictured is a detail of “The Meeting of Hero and Leander”, from a series of four watercolours by Sebastiaen Vrancx we have on display. Through thorough research, we were able to connect these to a series of tapestries woven at the Mortlake tapestry manufacture near London in the 1630’s.

This and many more discoveries await at stand 5 at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, until 30 March. Come on by and say hello!

[SUNDAY READ]

We are proud to present, fresh from the printers, our most recent publication, “Master Drawings from 1540 to 1790”, written in collaboration with our fellow drawings dealer and friend on the occasion of ‘s inaugural participation in the next week.

Ranging from a study after an antique sculpture by Frans Floris to a botanical study in preparation for a print by Jan Christiaan Sepp, the works in this catalogue - however diverse in technique, function, subject matter or style - are all, in their own way, a reflection of our taste and our exacting standards towards condition, aesthetics and rarity. These drawings, now temporarily brought together (and perhaps, in some cases, bien etonnés de se trouver ensemble, as the French say), will in time find new homes in private and institutional collections the world over. We are curious to see where they end up.

It was a true pleasure finding, acquiring, researching and publishing these works, many of which were longtime hidden or even entirely unknown. We hope you derive at least as much pleasure from looking at them.

Check out the digital version through our link in bio or on our website. Book lovers are welcome to come pick up their print copy at the fair in Paris or, afterwards, at the gallery in Antwerp 📚
