FR// Julia Obermaier s’intéresse aux propriétés physiques des pierres fines, à leurs limites autant qu’à leur symbolique. Le travail de la main occupe une place essentielle dans son processus : toucher, observer et manipuler la matière lui permet de développer ses idées et de mieux comprendre le matériau. Dans sa série Verborgen, elle découpe, façonne et polit des briques de quartz translucide qu’elle assemble progressivement pour créer broches et boucles. Entre espace vivant, labyrinthe et ruine, Julia joue avec les ajours et les densités colorées dans des compositions organiques.

EN// Julia Obermaier is interested in the physical properties of semi-precious stones, focusing as much on their limitations as on their symbolism. Manual work plays a central role in her creative process: touching, observing and handling the material allows her to develop her ideas and gain a deeper understanding of it. In her Verborgen series, she cuts, shapes and polishes blocks of translucent quartz, which she gradually assembles to create brooches and earrings. Somewhere between a living space, a labyrinth and a ruin, Julia plays with openwork and variations in colour density within organic compositions.

FR// Un souvenir d’enfance, puis des années plus t**d le rêve d’une pierre précieuse fondante ont influencé la démarche artistique de Julia Maria Künnap. Elle décide de compléter son cursus de joaillerie et de forge obtenu en Estonie au côté de Kadri Mälk, par l’apprentissage de la taille de pierre précieuses à Stockholm, Florence et Idar-Oberstein. Vingt ans plus t**d, son coup de crayon, évoquant un jade dégoulinant est acclamée internationalement.

EN// A childhood memory, followed years later by a dream of a gemstone that melts in the mouth, has shaped Julia Maria Künnap’s artistic approach. She decided to complement the training in jewellery-making and metalwork she had acquired in Estonia under Kadri Mälk with an apprenticeship in gemstone cutting in Stockholm, Florence and Idar-Oberstein. Twenty years later, her distinctive style, evoking dripping jade, is acclaimed internationally.

FR// Dans son parcours de création, Erik Lizjenga nous parle d’objets usuels, de ceux qui portent un vécu et touchent à nos souvenirs. Il les analyse, les refaçonne et leur offre une nouvelle densité.
Formé tout d’abord en design d’objet en Hollande, puis à Idar Oberstein en Bijouterie et pierres précieuses, chaque création joue sur le plaisir de reconnaître des formes connues, réinterprétées dans des matériaux nobles.

EN// In his creative journey, Erik Lizjenga speaks to us of everyday objects, those that carry a history and touch upon our memories. He analyzes them, reshapes them, and imbues them with new depth.
Trained first in product design in the Netherlands, then in Idar-Oberstein in jewelry and gemstones, each creation plays on the pleasure of recognizing familiar forms, reinterpreted in fine materials.

Les célèbres “4C” définissent traditionnellement la valeur d’un diamant — son poids, sa couleur, sa taille et sa pureté. Le cadre ici se déplace, voire vole en éclats. Notre nouvelle sélection libère la pierre, plurielle, des hiérarchies qui l’enserrent, pour faire place au dialogue de la matière et de la manière, par dix artistes internationaux d’horizons divers.

The famous ‘4Cs’ traditionally define a diamond’s value: its carat weight, colour, cut and clarity. Here, that framework is shifted—or even shattered. Our new selection liberates the multifaceted stone from the hierarchies that constrain it, making way for a dialogue between material and form, through the work of ten international artists from diverse backgrounds.

FR // Terhi Tolvanen signe des bagues en opale naturelle et reconstituée. Sur l’une, ciment et touches d’acrylique composent une surface presque picturale ; sur l’autre, des stries verticales viennent rythmer la pierre.
Tels des talismans, ses bijoux semblent protéger autant qu’inviter à un voyage dans les forêts finlandaises.

EN // Terhi Tolvanen creates rings featuring natural and reconstituted opal. On one, cement and touches of acrylic create an almost painterly surface; on the other, vertical striations give the stone a rhythmic quality.
Like talismans, her jewellery seems to offer protection whilst inviting the wearer on a journey through the Finnish forests.

FR// Le travail de Stefanie se caractérise par une approche conceptuelle, où la notion de contraste occupe une place centrale. Pierre brute et pierre taillée se juxtaposent, griffes XXL, argent réticulé et pierres fines se rencontrent. À travers des compositions souvent asymétriques, l’artiste mêle une esthétique à la fois brute et délicate.
EN// Stefanie’s work is characterised by a conceptual approach, in which the notion of contrast plays a central role. Rough-hewn stone and carved stone are juxtaposed, whilst oversized claws, reticulated silver and semi-precious stones come together. Through often asymmetrical compositions, the artist blends an aesthetic that is both raw and delicate.

FR// Avec sa série Verborgen, Julia Obermaier questionne la matérialité de la pierre à travers des compositions à la fois synthétiques et labyrinthiques. L’artiste teinte des résines dans lesquelles viennent se loger des cristaux de roche translucides, jouant avec la lumière, la profondeur et les contrastes colorés.

EN// In her Verborgen series, Julia Obermaier explores the materiality of stone through compositions that are both synthetic and labyrinthine. The artist tints resins in which translucent rock crystals are embedded, playing with light, depth and colour contrasts.
