Julie Poisquet (°1996, lives and works in Ghent) has developed an interest in the transformation of objects through time and (human) interaction. Her work encompasses sculptures, objects, and installations that are photographically archived. Wood, rubber, oil paint and concrete are preferred and recurring materials in her work.

Sam Lock (°1973, lives and works in Brighton (UK)) is a British abstract painter whose visceral, layered works explore memory, time, and the beauty of transformation. Through a process of building up and eroding material, he creates surfaces that bear the traces of both creation and decay.

We present the "Division" paintings. These works revolved around the attempted suppression of image; the shrouding of one half of the painting behind a blankness, a matt blackness. The division of the painted space and the subsequent activity between the 2 halves, creates a sensed hierarchy in the image where the different elements struggle to dominate or control. The central meeting point becomes an energised point of contact, the texture of the surface breaks through and tries to hold the space together.

These paintings were made in 2 stages with the division added exactly a year later – there is a bridge between time here – half of which sits hidden. They are both here and then. The presence of absence, the presence of presence, the absence of presence, the absence of absence.

Simon Bultynck (°1992, lives and works in Ronse) reworks historical landscape paintings in bronze, revisiting works by painters whose persistence outlasted their visibility. Stripped of their pictorial surface, the paintings become weight, folds, edges, and traces of their own construction.

In her short life as an exceptionally talented visual artist, Clarisse M (Ghent 2002-2023) mainly used the medium of photography. In het permanent quest for beauty, she created an impressive artistic body of work. She found recognition by and connection with Dirk Braeckman, who became her mentor.

The multidisciplinary practice of Ante Timmermans (°1976, lives and works in Ghent) encompasses drawing, painting, sculpture, installation and performance.

At the core of his work lies an interest in the absurdity of everyday life, its systems, repetitions and attempts at order. His drawings and installations explore the relationship between structure and chaos, while language, writing and the shifting meanings of words remain recurring elements throughout his oeuvre. His more recent work has moved increasingly towards abstraction, in which repetitive forms and gestures no longer refer to an external subject but become subjects in themselves.

Timmermans has exhibited internationally, including at S.M.A.K. in Ghent, GEM in The Hague, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Musée Jenisch in Vevey, Les Tanneries in Amilly and Kunsthalle São Paulo.
