First international art fair dedicated to contemporary ceramics.

For this very first edition of Ceramic Brussels we are proud to announce, Jojo Corväiá will present a new series of work in dialogue with some archive sculptures from the past five years.

« QUAND LES FORÊTS ÉTAIENT FÔRETS »

Quand je suis arrivé dans la forêt j’ai tracé un cercle imaginaire pour séparer symboliquement le monde visible de l’invisible.

A l’intérieur, j’ai imaginé une sorte de danse rituelle.

Au pied d’une Ceiba, j’ai placé mes pensées.

Protégé par les racines externes de l’arbre, j’ai noué mes amulettes et je me suis recouvert entièrement d’argile noire.
At my arrival to the forest I drew an imaginary circle to separate symbolically the visible world from the one invisible.

Inside, I imagined some sort of ritual dance.

At the foot of a Ceiba, I placed my thoughts.

Protected by the external roots of the tree, I knotted my amulets
and I covered myself entirely with black clay.

Tim Teven’s first solo show that shows a cross section of techniques and systems that evolve around metal deformation.  
Tim Teven is committed to creating work that derives out of material experiments which include mechanical actions to deform metal. Out of these experiments Teven obtains processing systems that allow him to effectively exploit the material properties, and the proporties of the accruing deformation in shape: Technical and mechanical gestures that translate into a self-made aesthetic.  
Blurring the lines between designing every detail and spontaneous outcomes. The work shows an interplay between mechanical and hand made gestures.
