It’s time to visit 'TESTTEST'— the first major solo exhibition by Peter Morrens () at the gallery since his acclaimed retrospective 'OEEEEEEUUUUVVRE' at Museum M in Leuven, an overview of 35 years of practice that marked a milestone in his career.

“No protected world…Just behind the wall the noise begins,”— Tomas Tranströmer

Between laughter and grinding, fear of war and blooms, between the filth of mouth and arse and the breath of the zeitgeist, 'TESTTEST' tries to order the world by keeping it in motion. The exhibition unfolds as a sequence of ruptures and transitions: four rooms, four rhythms, many ways of looking. A route with no clear direction, in which images, words, materials, and thoughts keep interrupting one another. In flashes, the present.

Tuukka Tammisaari (b. 1984) is a Finnish painter whose practice privileges rhythm, repetition and improvisation. His compositions emerge through direct engagement with the canvas: bold gestures, compressed marks and saturated blocks of color accumulate into visual structures that feel both playful and architectural. Motifs are revisited, reworked and layered, producing paintings that seem to vibrate between spontaneity and order.

Klaas Kloosterboer (b. 1959, the Netherlands) is a Dutch artist celebrated for his bold, physical, and experimental approach to painting. His work navigates a continual cycle of construction, destruction and reconstruction, constantly shifting between two dimensional and three dimensional expressions and challenging traditional boundaries of the medium. With an unmistakable honesty and intensity, Kloosterboer pushes paint and form to their limits, reinventing his practice with each work while testing the very act of painting as an expressive and conceptual gesture. His work has been exhibited widely and is held in major institutional collections and distinguished private collections.

"I’ve sent out some more mail art under the title ‘Enkele gebieden’. This time the recipients are islands – sovereign states with their own capital cities, and so on. You’re well aware of the global crisis facing sovereignty… And there is another reason, call it an observation-based impulse: my worldview and the streetscape are increasingly populated by humanoids clutching rectangular boxes, or holding them tightly to their ears. They drift along like melting icebergs, struggling to stay afloat in the face of it all, refusing to dissolve into the ocean. Every island in engulfed by a deluge of diverse opinions on an equally wide range of subjects… which made me think: time for mail art."

(From conversations between Derek Højbjerg-Twaithcombe and Jean le Sauvage, in Johan De Wilde, Hands of Time. Les très riches heures de Jean le Sauvage,
MER. Books, 2026)

Veerle Beckers (b. 1976, Belgium | lives and works in Ghent) is a painter whose work springs from a rich inner life. Her technical mastery is never an end in itself — it is woven into every fibre of her work. She paints, as her husband David Peleman () writes, 'for her daily bread': what she takes in ferments slowly and rises from within.

Her canvases are built up over weeks. Countless base layers form a painted landscape before any image appears — and when it finally arrives, it comes as something inevitable. Objects, figures, architectural fragments, garments without bodies: they appear with precision yet breathe a near-tangible absence. The colours echo the muted shimmer of medieval murals. The image lies deeply embedded within the painting — as though the painter hesitates to share her innermost stirrings with the world.

Dirk Zoete (b. 1969) is a Belgian artist whose work grows from drawing — the foundation of a universe filled with invented characters, architectural forms and staged scenarios. His practice embraces playful experimentation and continual reworking: sketches become models, models return to drawings, and images evolve through repetition and variation.

Brussels-based artist Aurélie Gravas (b. 1977) works at the intersection of figuration and intuition, exploring the face as a shifting terrain — fragile, symbolic, and in constant transformation. Her practice moves between presence and metamorphosis, where human features blur into something animal, instinctive, and emotional.
