Our new exhibition: Reflection Across Time
Changwon Lee creëert vanuit optische principes: licht, schaduw en reflectie. De basis van zijn sculpturale schilderijen bestaat uit het schilderen op horizontale fijne houten constructies, met gelijke afstand bevestigd op een wit paneel. Zijn vernieuwende werkmethode, dat een beeld vormt op een zeer atypische wijze, roept een spanning op door middel van afstand en perspectief.
‘Reflection Across Time’ brengt een selectie van iconisch historische afbeeldingen: onvergetelijke kunstwerken en portretten die als mijlpalen in de geschiedenis overeind blijven. De kerngedachte van zijn werkproces, reflectie, is zowel fysiek aanwezig in zijn kunstwerken als oproepend in de gedachtes van de toeschouwer. Het bijzonder oeuvre van Changwon Lee overstijgt de tijdelijkheid en herinnert ons aan het belang van de mensheid in het universum.

Changwon Lee creates from optical principles: light, shadow and reflection. The basis of his sculptural paintings consists of painting on horizontal fine wooden structures, fixed at equal distances on a white panel. His innovative working method, which forms an image in a highly atypical way, evokes tension through distance and perspective.
