It began in a courtyard in Milan known as "El Camerùn" — a drug fort, a black hole, a place the city had given up on. In 2014, artist Mahmoud Saleh Mohammadi chose that exact place to create Spazio Nour: not a gallery, not a studio, but a living work of art buil

t with the community that was already there. The courtyard of Viale Bligny 42 became a real square — where different cultures met, clashed, and found each other through art, shared meals, music and co-creation. Ten years later, Spazio Nour lives in a 17th-century castle in the heart of the Kempen — Kasteel Hof d'Intere, Wechelderzande — carrying the same belief across a different landscape: beauty belongs to everyone, and everyone can create it together. From Milan to Antwerp, from Geneva (UN) to the Malta Biennale, from Finland to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp — Spazio Nour is an ever-evolving encounter between art, community, research and transformation. A place of light. Always being built. Never abandoned.

Five nights. Five centuries of music. One castle breathing under the moon. 🌙

This August, the walls of Kasteel Hof d’Intere will carry sound across time — from the delicate touch of medieval keys to the deep pulse of a harmonium, from the stillness of a harpsichord to the fire of improvised percussion.

Every Saturday evening, a different world unfolds within the same ancient stones.

When we dance together, we become more beautiful.

On 25 May, the walls of Kasteel Hof d’Intere travelled back in time — to the elegance, grace and romance of the Regency era. Six hours of music, movement and connection, in the spirit of Jane Austen.

And all around us, the paintings of Le Déjeuner sur l’Herbe’s exhibition were watching — art and dance sharing the same light, the same space, the same breath.

Thank you to the wonderful .be and the magnificent dance master Johan Goessens — for bringing this world to life with such warmth and joy.

The castle is still alive with art of our amazing artists until 30 June — come and feel it for yourself.

COUNTERPOINT — A Triptych
Where Belgian, Iranian, and Italian artists come together through trust, dialogue, and shared presence — suspending time for a fleeting moment to experience and share with others.

Presented at the Thematic Pavilion of Malta Biennale 2026, Spazio Nour introduces Counterpoint Pavilion — a title inspired by the musical structure of independent voices unfolding simultaneously.

Sound, light, photography, painting, and textile merge into an immersive spatial installation where time seems to stand still, inviting people to gather, reflect, and connect.

Onder de 377 jaar oude houten zolder van Kasteel Hof d’Intere leek de tijd even stil te staan.

Rond één lange tafel deelden we het ontbijt, verhalen, tekeningen, stilte, gelach en de serene schoonheid van samenzijn en het gevoel van welzijn.

Deze dag, onderdeel van onze collectieve tentoonstelling Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe, ontvouwde zich als een levend kunstwerk van Manet – met inspirerende gesprekken van Bruno Devos en Chris Meulemans rondom de collectieve tekening van Nicky Embrechts, en later de betoverend mooie klanken van de performance van Inne Eysermans die door de balken van het kasteel zweefden.

Een moment geweven uit kunst, licht, muziek en menselijke verbondenheid.

We are so happy with another beautiful opening and exhibition at our beautiful castle.

Le déjeuner sur l’herbe brings together amazing artists and galleries from around the world centered around the iconic eponymous painting of Manet, depicting an everyday scene at historic scale, causing scandal and new movement simultaneously.

Nestled in the countryside, Kasteel Hof d’Intere forms temporary refuge from the city.

Many thanks to all amazing artists, galleries and volontairs thanks to curator Bruno Devos for bringing this exhibition together.

We are open on Saturday and Sunday from 13:00 - 18:00, as well as during this Ascension weekend.

We starten met een sfeervolle creative picnic op het grasveld rond het kasteel.

LE DÉJEUNER SUR L’HERBE

We’re so happy to welcome you back to our Castle for our collective exhibition LE DÉJEUNER SUR L’HERBE, curated by Bruno Devos, opens on Friday 8th of May from 17.00 to 21.00, with a speech by our mayor Marleen Peeters and art curator Bruno Devos at 19:00.

Inspired by Édouard Manet’s painting that placed everyday life at the center of public view, Le Déjeuner sur l’Herbe brings four Antwerp galleries into the castle and its landscape, where art is presented in relation to nature, physical presence, and shared time in response to today’s accelerated world.
